Today we remember 13 February 2008 - the day our nation formally apologised to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and in particular to the Stolen Generations.
The words “we say sorry” acknowledged the profound grief, suffering and loss caused by past government policies that removed children from their families, communities and Country.

For many Survivors, this moment was powerful. For many, the journey of healing continues.

At Stolen Generations Council NSW/ACT Inc., we honour the strength, resilience and truth of our Survivors and their families - not just today, but every day.

The apology was a milestone. Our work towards justice, healing and recognition continues. 🖤💛❤️

Last week we travelled to Northern NSW for our Yamba Healing Camp. 🌿

Over five days, Survivors and Descendants came together for culture, healing, and community - guided by amazing facilitators and supported by our hardworking staff.

From Smoking Ceremony and cultural sessions with We Al-Li Dadirri, to painting workshops with Fiona Vesper, storytelling with Bernadette Foley, and a special Yaegl Bus Tour with Aunty Di Ferguson - the camp was filled with unforgettable moments of connection and healing. 💛🖤❤️

Our next Healing Camp will be in Wagga Wagga this November.

We invite our whole community to celebrate Children’s Day - whether you’re attending a community event, sharing stories and songs, or gathering with family. Every act of support helps to build strong, confident children who know where they come from and where they are going.

Massive thank you to the Tharawal mob for having the Stolen Generations Council and making us feel so welcome, it was truly a spectacular day at the Tharawal Family Fun Day NAIDOC Event! 🖤 💛 ❤️

There was so much happening - meat raffles, rides for the kids, live performances, and a whole bunch of amazing community organisations getting involved. Our team was kept flat out sharing some awesome merch, and it was deadly seeing how popular our umbrellas and reading glasses were.

Biggest thanks to everyone who came up for a yarn, grabbed some goodies, and helped make the day one to remember. Can’t wait to catch up with everyone at the next event.

What an incredible day we shared at the Eora NAIDOC Day event! The energy was electric as we watched some deadly performances and talented acts, each was a testament to the rich culture and resilience of our people. 🖤 💛 ❤️

It was truly special to connect with so many community members - both familiar faces and newcomers. Sharing our mission and purpose with you all is at the heart of what we do, and your enthusiasm and support inspire us to continue this important work.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our surveys. Your feedback is invaluable, helping us gather the data we need for healing and to guide our strategic planning. This input is essential as the Stolen Generations Council NSW/ACT Inc moves forward with initiatives that support our community’s wellbeing and future. 🌿
