We pay tribute tonight to Dolly Parton.

Forever known as a heart-warming singer of country music, there were many layers to her life.

In the early 2000s she took Gamilaraay dancers to perform at her Tennessee theme park, bringing our culture to America. And her Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has helped many Aboriginal kids to learn to read.

We won’t forget and RIP ❤️💛🖤 🦅

Great event today at Bowraville with the unveiling of a Blue Plaque commemorating the 1965 Freedom Rides. Gumbaynggirr Elders Gary Williams and Martin Ballangarry were part of the official party.

Led by Dr Charlie Perkins, members of the Student Action for Aborigines (SAFA) of Sydney University travelled by bus throughout rural NSW highlighting discrimination against Aboriginal people. Blue Plaques have already been unveiled in numerous places including Walgett, Moree and Dubbo with more to come. Gary Williams rode with the students from Bowraville to Kempsey and was part of the north coast protests.
