Will they revisit nuclear in their desperate bid to regain votes?

Possibly – they do not seem to have learned anything about what the Australian elect actually want.

One year ago, Australians firmly rejected the Coalition's toxic nuclear fantasy in favour of a renewable future.

The latest World Nuclear Industry Status Report has crunched the numbers to show that 2025 was another underwhelming year for nuclear power.
Dramatic drop in number of countries building reactors

According to this article in Renew Economy, the number of countries building power reactors has fallen off a cliff. WNISR-2026 notes:
“The number of building countries declined by almost one third, from 16 to 11, in just two years, with several countries having completed their last construction project (France, United Arab Emirates, United States), or suspended if not terminated construction (Argentina, Brazil, Japan), while only one country was added to the list (Pakistan).

Despite the hype from the nuclear industry and its boosters, the latest status report shows that its renaissance remains a mirage, and reactor numbers are falling.

Well…proponents of nuclear power have been trying to sell us the fairytale that nuclear is the magic potion to bring down our energy prices.
This is the true story, not the fantasy…

Ontario utility asks regulator to double the price it is paid for nuclear power - to the equivalent of $A222/MWh - to cover the costs of new reactors and upkeep.

Renewable energy is vastly cheaper and safer than and coal and nuclear. It is reliable and it is available – here and now.

Even if nuclear was safe and affordable – which it is not – it would take a minimum of 20 years to be useful.

So…yesterday – the coalition dumped net zero.
Leading up to this point, our little friends from Nuclear for Australia have been visiting and lobbying politicians in Canberra to dump the van on nuclear in this country - and crowing about their alleged success.

This issue will not go away, and the analysis of The Punter is spot on!

Great messaging from Matthew Armstrong. Can’t believe Murray Watt - Senator for Queensland’s first action as Environment Minister is to approve a new gas project which is a massive CO2 emissions bomb.

So... the Libs selected good old Toxic Ted O'Brien as their deputy leader.

"Fresh from his nuclear love-in at COP28" he joined forces with Dutton and ultimately lost any credibility that the LNP previously had.

Here is a bit of history -

Release of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report provides a sobering reality check for an industry on life-support and a contrast to Ted O’Brien’s silliness at COP28 climate conferen…
