A huge Red Rock turnout for Gwynnie in last night’s wet weather. It was a fantastic get together to remember a local. Thanks for coming everyone, and special thanks to the two Red Rock ladies who donated the makings of a great dinner and dessert!

A quick reminder that we are gathering at the hall tonight to celebrate the life of Gwyn Austen. Everyone is welcome, and we’ll kick off around 5:00 pm with a sausage sizzle. Please bring your own drinks and join us for a casual evening as we honour a truly special member of our community.

Our Red Rock community is warmly invited to come together on Monday from 5pm at the hall for a simple, low‑key gathering to remember and honour Gwyn Austen.

We know not everyone will be able to attend the service, and we want to offer a space here at home for anyone who would still like to gather, share a few stories, and spend some time together in her memory.

The RRMUC will be providing a sausage sizzle, please BYO drinks.

Come as you are. This isn’t a formal event — just a relaxed chance for the village to come together and acknowledge someone who helped shape the place we all call home. A moment to stand together, in the way Gwyn always stood for Red Rock.
Everyone is welcome.

Community Sewing Day at the RRMUC — Hosted by the Red Rock Art Group
Thursday 14th May 2026 – 9am till 1pm

The Red Rock Art Group is bringing the community together for a special sewing and non‑sewing day at the Multi Use Centre, and everyone is warmly invited. We’ll be supporting Louise Hardman’s important work with the Plastic Collective by making and assembling washable sanitary kits which she offered to distribute during her upcoming plastic recycling workshops in the Tiwi Islands.

There’ll be plenty to do on Thursday for ladies and gents with all skill levels - sewing, cutting, sorting, organising, ironing, chatting - and overlockers will be especially appreciated. No experience is needed, just a willingness to join in.

A handy bonus:

Red Rock will be in a planned blackout that day, but the hall will be running on its own solar and battery system.

If you’d like to escape a powerless house, charge a device, put something vital in the fridge, have a cuppa, or simply enjoy a powered space for a few hours, come along, plug in and give the ladies and gents a hand.

Morning tea is provided, and the atmosphere will be relaxed, friendly and very Red Rock.

We’d love to see you there.

On behalf of the Red Rock Multi Use Centre it is with a sad heart I acknowledge the passing of our dearly loved life member Gwyn Austen.

Last month we celebrated Gwynnie’s life membership – today we celebrate her life.

As others have said so beautifully, her contribution, her love and dedication to all things Red Rock made her in many ways the foundation of our community. She lived her life with faith and integrity. She built community by recognising the beauty of our area and safeguarding it for generations to come. It is our role with a heart of hope to continue her legacy.

Gwyn had a way to express her view, never personal but strong and insightful. There could be times we disagreed but had a cup of tea anyway. On receiving her OAM she dedicated it to the village. She often said the village was her family and demonstrated this by her dedication to us.

In Gwyn’s later life when she had lost some of her independence, the support she received from the village helped her find acceptance in her moving from her beloved Red Rock. She was not forgotten but remained a solid base for us all. The hall committee often sought her advice in regards to issues of the hall, even recently regarding the drainage underneath the building. She knew it all.
With a grateful heart we say thanks for all you have given to us Gwyn. You will be sadly missed but always remembered. As the old song ‘we’ll be seeing you in all the old familiar places'.

Gwyn's life has shown us ‘to love and be loved is all there is’.
