Ipswich Lions Club - Queensland

Ipswich Lions Club - Queensland We're the Ipswich Lions - proudly serving our community with heart and purpose. From local projects to global causes, we're here to make a difference.

Join us in creating a kinder, stronger community - one act of service at a time. Chartered in August 1962, the Ipswich Lions have been proudly serving our community for over 60 years. Built on the belief that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things together, our members—men and women from all walks of life—come together with warmth, kindness, and a shared purpose . We champion a wide ran

ge of community causes—supporting young people, the elderly, the visually and hearing impaired, and those facing disadvantage. We participate in a wide range of community events and fundraising activities to enable us to give back to the community we are proud to be a part of. One of our most enduring contributions is the iconic Lions Lookout Tower in Limestone Park, built by club members beginning in 1969—yet another testament to our hands-on community spirit. We fund every project ourselves—100% of public donations go directly back into our local community. Our fellowship is the heart of our club. We meet twice monthly, nurture lifelong friendships, and empower volunteers of all ages to lead, learn, and serve. Today, we continue to support those in need across our region, putting service before self and proudly echoing the Lions International motto: “We Serve.”

Want to join us? We welcome new members—just come along to a meeting or event and discover how you can make a difference. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at the United Sports Club - East Ipswich.

🦁💛 National Volunteer Week | 18–24 May 💛🦁

“Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.”

This week, we’re celebrating the people who quietly roll up their sleeves, jump in to help, and make our communities stronger every single day: our volunteers. 🌟

At Ipswich Lions Club, volunteering is more than service… it’s friendship, compassion, laughter, teamwork, and a shared commitment to making a difference where it matters most.

Whether it’s cooking sausages at a fundraiser, supporting local families, lending a hand during difficult times, or simply showing up when help is needed, Lions continue to leave a lasting impact in communities across Australia and around the world. 🌏

To our incredible Ipswich Lions: thank you for your time, your generosity, and your huge hearts. You are the reason our club can continue serving the community with pride. 💙

And to every Lion everywhere; thank you for proving that kindness still changes lives, and that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they come together. 🫶

Here’s to the volunteers who make service, community, and connection possible every day. We see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you this National Volunteer Week. 🎉

🌟 Lions Youth of the Year – Celebrating Our Future Leaders 🌟

We are incredibly proud to announce Anna Mekundi from St James College Springfield as our Ipswich Lions Club Youth of the Year winner 👏

The Lions Youth of the Year program is one of Australia’s longest running and most respected youth initiatives. It recognises young people who demonstrate outstanding leadership, community involvement, academic achievement and public speaking skills. Participants complete a formal interview and deliver both prepared and impromptu speeches, building confidence, communication skills and real world leadership experience along the way.

This program is not just about winning. It is about growth, courage and stepping up. It provides an incredible opportunity for young people to challenge themselves, develop lifelong skills and connect with community leaders.

Anna will now progress to the next stage of the competition later this month and we wish her every success as she continues her journey. We are right behind you, Anna 💜

📣 Current Year 11 students this could be you in the 2027 program. If you are involved in your school or community and would like to further develop your leadership and public speaking skills, we would love to hear from you. Reach out to Ipswich Lions Club for more information about entering next year.

✨ Welcome to the Pride, Emily! ✨

On Tuesday night, we officially welcomed Emily as a member of the Ipswich Lions Club — and she has already hit the ground running! 🙌

Not only did she join us for her induction, but she’s already been getting involved at one of our recent events. That’s the kind of energy we absolutely love to see! 💛

If we want our Club to continue serving the Ipswich community well into the future, welcoming passionate, community-minded people like Emily is essential. The more hands we have, the more we can do. And there is always more to do.

We’re so excited to have you with us, Emily — your enthusiasm and heart for community are already shining through. 🌟

Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing Emily’s “Why” for joining very soon 👀

Curious about what Lions is all about?
Thinking you might like to get involved too?

Send us a DM and come along to a meeting or event. We’d love to welcome you and have a chat 🦁💬

Lions Camp Cockatoo is back for 2026! 🦜🌊

This incredible camp is designed for young people aged 15–17 living with Type 1 Diabetes, offering connection, confidence-building and loads of fun in a safe, supportive environment.

📍 Sunshine Coast Recreation Precinct, Currimundi
📅 19–23 September

Camp Cockatoo brings teens together with others who truly understand life with Type 1 Diabetes. It’s a chance to build independence, strengthen self-management skills, and create lifelong friendships - all while enjoying an unforgettable camp experience.

Ipswich Lions is incredibly proud to stand behind this program each year. Our support goes beyond financial sponsorship - we are committed partners in making the camp possible. We contribute funding to help ensure accessibility for families, and we have one of our members attend the camp in person to provide practical support and encouragement throughout the week.

For us, this is about more than sponsorship - it’s about investing in young people’s confidence, wellbeing and future.
