Creative Connections Whitsunday Inc is a vibrant community organisation that services Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Bowen and surrounding villages and is dedicated to fostering artistic expression and connection within the Whitsunday region. We offer a diverse range of events and programs that engage both artists and the broader community.​

y Festival is a signature event celebrating our unique local wildlife and cultural heritage. This festival brings together art, music, and community activities to raise awareness and appreciation for the Proserpine Rock Wallaby, fostering a sense of unity and environmental stewardship.​

Great Barrier Reef Festival Art Exhibition

As part of the annual Great Barrier Reef Festival, we proudly host the Art Exhibition, showcasing the talents of artists from along the length of the Great Barrier Reef. This curated exhibition provides a platform for creatives to display their work, reflecting the beauty and diversity of the Great Barrier Reef and our community.​

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Gemma Louise Pap

Bright, vibrant and unmistakably Australian – Gemma Louise Pap creates colourful artworks celebrating Australia’s unique wildlife and natural beauty.

From her early days selling paintings at the Airlie Beach markets to becoming a full-time artist, Gemma’s creative journey has been one of experimentation, persistence and plenty of colour.

Her distinctive technique combines expressive acrylic backgrounds with detailed oil painting, often featuring lesser-known Australian species.

Her advice to emerging artists? Keep going, keep experimenting and don’t be afraid to try new things.

Join the Whitsundays Writers Festival on Sunday 13 September to create an original artwork on location at the Whitsunday Marine Club, responding to the coastal landscape and atmosphere of the day.

Visitors can watch your artwork take shape
Your finished work enters the People’s Choice Award
Your artwork can also go into the silent auction
100% of auction proceeds go directly to you

The People’s Choice winner will be announced at 4.00pm.

New Faces, New Perspectives at the CCW Community Gallery

Fresh work has arrived at the Creative Connections Whitsundays Community Gallery, with a new collection on display until 14 September.

Explore watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, oils and photography, featuring artists at different stages of their creative journeys.

You’ll also find handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, prints and other locally made pieces.

UPDATE: if you would like a second or third canvas, there’s another batch just arrived.

🎨 Join our Gallery Fundraiser!

We’ve got 40+ little canvases waiting at the Community Gallery, and we want to see what our local artists can create!

Here’s how it works:
Purchase a 20 × 25cm canvas for just $10 from the Gallery.
Create an original artwork (any theme, any medium).
Donate your finished artwork back to the Gallery.
The artworks will be sold for $99.95 each, with 100% of the proceeds going towards the Community Gallery.

The finished works will form a special Art Sale Fundraiser during the September school holidays, giving visitors the chance to take home an original piece of local art while supporting the future of our Gallery.

Finished artworks must be returned by 14 September for the Gallery changeover.

With more than 40 canvases available, let’s create a fantastic little exhibition showcasing the diversity of our creative community.

Meet Oliver Seddon-Brown, our youngest exhibitor to date at just 12 years old!

With a growing passion for landscape and wildlife photography, Oliver has a wonderful eye for capturing the moments that are easy to miss and clearly has the patience that wildlife photography demands.

This month, Oliver is exhibiting alongside his mum, Lucy Seddon-Brown, an accomplished local photographer whose latest collection is also on display.

It’s a lovely showcase of creativity across generations, with each photographer bringing their own distinctive perspective.

Join our Adults Social Art Group as we create together. Whether you're an experienced artist, keen to try something new, or simply want to enjoy the wonderful local art on display, everyone is welcome.
