We love big days of learning on Country! At Sea Acres Rainforest Centre students compared how the Birpai people and Ancient Egyptians adapted to their environments, exploring how access to reliable water sources provided the food and resources essential for sustaining these communities. They also learnt about the application of push, pull, and twist forces used in traditional Aboriginal technologies.

At Pandanus Cove students experimented with driftwood levers in a challenge to move a heavy boulder using the least amount of force.

Kiah also taught our students how to harvest Xanthorrhoea sap, which will later be ground into resin for spear making.

Year 3 & 4 students ventured to Oxhill Organic Farm to explore alternative farming practises.

Students learnt about sustainable farming and why it is so important for our Earth. We watched the cows being milked and then grazing on a lush field planted with over 20 varieties of forage plants. We also learnt about mulching and composting systems that regenerate the property. Thank you Chris and Anne for welcoming us to your farm, we had an amazing time!

Dooragan Brother Mountain.

Our Kindy's spent a day learning about our local area from a different perspective (culturally and from a higher altitude) and exploring the rainforest for wildlife homes.

Thank you Sooz for being our thoughtful guide and teacher!

We love the concentration on Ruby's face here. Her music group filled glass jars with water and tuned them to the piano.
The kids learned how changing the amount of water, as well as the shape and size of the jars, affects the frequency of the notes produced when they are struck with a stick. They arranged the notes in a pentatonic scale and created some sweet tunes!

The green team have been busy over the past few weeks. The broad beans, garlic and spring onions are in; the compost bins have had a deep clean; the pasta machine has had a work out (thanks Nannas!) and when life gives you lemons… of course, we had to make some lemon curd!
