It is with great pride that we recognise Heidi Hicks from Metcash CSD as SDA WA's 2026 Delegate of the Year! 🏆
Heidi is a Delegate who has earned the trust and respect of her workplace because she leads with courage, compassion and humility.
Her accomplishments are many and remarkable. Heidi was able to turn around a defeated, low-morale workplace by rapidly growing union membership, then fighting for, and winning for a better deal for her coworkers in bargaining.
That would be impressive enough, but Heidi also later discovered the agreed upon pay rise had not been implemented correctly. Working alongside the SDA, this resulted in a correction to pay rates and a back pay for her colleagues!
“She gives people their time. Listens without judgement. Treats everyone with respect. And when something isn’t right, they show up, speak up and stand beside their coworkers, even when doing so requires personal sacrifice.”
Heidi's leadership inspires, and demonstrates that our Union is strongest when workers believe in each other and understand the power they have when they stand together.
