Calling all Primary Teachers! We need to hear from you!

ACS is inviting educators from across Australia to participate in the ACS Digital Technologies Education Survey 2026.

The survey seeks to better understand how digital technologies education is being delivered, the opportunities and challenges facing educators, and the support needed to help students develop the knowledge and skills required in an increasingly digital world.

By taking part, participants will help build a national understanding of:
📚 how computing and digital technologies education is being delivered across schools
📚 teacher confidence, capability and professional learning needs
📚 the impact of emerging technologies, including AI
📚 access to resources and support
📚 challenges and opportunities affecting digital education
📚 changes and trends over time

The findings will contribute to a growing national evidence base that supports ACS's engagement with the education and technology sectors and helps inform future initiatives relating to digital technologies education in Australia.

If you're an educator involved in teaching, leading or supporting computing and digital technologies education in Australian schools, whether digital technologies is taught as a dedicated subject or integrated across broader teaching practice, your perspective is valuable.

🏆 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 Ian Wilson, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐄 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫!

We are absolutely delighted to share that Ian Wilson from Coolbinia Primary School has been named the 2026 Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE)/Australian Computing Society (ACS) Digital Technologies Teacher of the Year, recognising his outstanding contribution to Digital Technologies education at a national level.

Ian was ECAWA’s 2025 Digital Technologies Teacher of the Year, which saw him selected as Western Australia’s nominee for this national award. We couldn’t be prouder to see his work now recognised across Australia.

Ian brings Digital Technologies to life through authentic projects connecting coding, robotics, sustainability, science and Aboriginal perspectives. From his work with UWA’s Einstein-First program to the award-winning Kaadadjiny Boodja initiative, he demonstrates what Digital Technologies education can look like when it is purposeful, inclusive and connected to the world beyond the classroom.

He is also a generous leader and advocate across the wider STEM and education community, sharing his practice with other educators and championing girls in STEM, digital citizenship and student voice.

And, as an added point of pride for us, Ian is now a member of the ECAWA Committee!

From ECAWA Digital Technologies Teacher of the Year in 2025 to ACCE Digital Technologies Teacher of the Year in 2026. A very well-deserved national recognition.

Now more than ever, it’s critical for educators to be up to date, better yet, one step ahead of developments around ICT content. And to make this easy, teachers from K-12 are encouraged to attend a special Educator Conference on 9 October at UWA.

Created in collaboration with The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the The University of Western Australia and , the conference is aimed at helping educators learn more about using ICT/AI through hands-on activities, presentations and the sharing of innovative teaching and discussions with other educators, and UWA researchers.
