Justin McMillan for Palmyra-Melville-Willagee Ward

Justin McMillan for Palmyra-Melville-Willagee Ward Authorised by Justin McMillan-218 St Georges Tce Perth WA 6000.

As one of the few candidates who actually lives in the ward (with my family living in the ward for over a decade) I understand the concerns of the residents of Palmyra, Melville and Willagee.

Residents of Palmyra, Melville and Willagee - NOW is the time to have your say.

Interest rates up.
Petrol prices up.
Food prices up.
And next… Council rates?

Families across our ward are already feeling the squeeze. The last thing we all need is council rate hikes driven by spending on aspirational, non-core items, which can be looked at when financial conditions improve.

I’ve been the only candidate consistently raising financial responsibility — and I have the experience to back it up.
With over 20 years in financial services, I know how to scrutinise budgets, ask the hard questions, and push for disciplined spending on behalf of residents.

Don’t have regret when your next rate notice arrives by staying silent now.

Vote 1 Justin McMillan — standing up for your hard-earned.

If you haven’t returned your ballot, it needs to be done this week. Every vote counts. Let your friends and neighbours know.

Big visions and grand plans are great — but the City of Melville must first get the basics right.

Residents expect reliable core services like rubbish collection, well-maintained streets, and responsible use of their rates.

Just as importantly, we need councillors who are prepared to ask the tough questions and keep the council accountable.

Ratepayers deserve nothing less.

14/03/2026

Our rates keep going up, yet residents rightly expect that money to be managed carefully and spent where it actually benefits our community.

That’s why financial experience on Council matters.

With over 20 years of financial services experience, I have the skills to scrutinise budgets, ask the tough questions and push for responsible spending that keeps rate rises under control.

If you want a councillor who will stand up for ratepayers and bring real financial discipline to Council, then:

Vote 1 Justin McMillan.

If you have not returned your ballot, please do so this week — every vote counts. Let your neighbours and friends know.

Is Applecross–Mt Pleasant really twice as unsafe as the rest of Melville?

I wouldn’t have thought so.

Yet under the City of Melville’s draft Community Safety Technology Roll-out Plan, the Applecross–Mt Pleasant Ward is proposed to receive roughly twice the funding for fixed CCTV cameras as other wards (in Melville).

Even more striking — around one-third of all Phase 1 spending on fixed CCTV appears earmarked for that single ward.

I seek your support to enable me to advocate for a greater allocation of the safety budget to be directed to Palmyra, Melville and Willagee!

What qualities do I believe our next councillor should bring to the role?

Strong – Willing to ask the hard questions.
Passionate – Relentlessly advocating for our community.
Transparent – Open, accountable and guided by integrity.
Local – Living in the ward and part of this community for over a decade - for my children's privacy, my city work address is my authorised campaign address.

These are the principles I will bring to representing the residents of Palmyra, Melville and Willagee.

If these values resonate with you, Vote 1 Justin McMillan for Palmyra–Melville–Willagee Ward.

Crime in Willagee is UP! Greater action is required.

The latest available crime data for Willagee shows:
🚨 Violent crime up around 20% last year
🚨 Property crime also increased
🚨 Overall offences trending upward

Willagee now sits above the average Perth suburban crime rate. These figures, which will not come as a shock to many of you, reflect real impacts on local families - from break-ins and theft to ongoing antisocial behaviour - and like many of you, I am deeply concerned (as I am raising my family in Willagee, which I have done for over a decade). Improving community safety is one of the key reasons I am contesting this election because our community deserves to feel safe — at home, walking our streets, visiting our local businesses and using our local facilities.

While crime prevention is primarily a policing responsibility, the City of Melville also has an important role to play in strengthening resident safety.

If elected to Council, my focus will include:

✅ Ensuring Melsafe appropriately patrols and services Willagee
✅ Advocating for improved street lighting in priority areas
✅ Closely monitoring the rollout of the Council’s CCTV program to ensure ratepayers’ investment delivers measurable safety outcomes
✅ Reviewing Council spending priorities to support practical community safety initiatives without increasing pressure on rates

Willagee is a vibrant community with strong local pride. With practical and accountable leadership, we can build on that vibrancy by ensuring residents feel safe to get out and about and enjoy our great suburb.

If you share my concerns and vision, I encourage you to have your voice heard in the Palmyra–Melville–Willagee ward election by Voting 1 – Justin McMillan
