Did you know that Young Dementia Australia (YoDA) was incorporated earlier this year as the first peak body dedicated to the more than 30,000 people and their families who live with young onset dementia in Australia?

As YoDA Board Chair Dr Clare Beard pointed out, every other condition of this scale in Australia had a national body behind it. "Young onset dementia has not had one, and families have carried that gap themselves. YoDA has been built by the people who have lived it, and it starts from what they have told us they need."

Depending on funding, they intend to formally launch next year and will provide a range of services including a phone line, individual and systemic advocacy, and trained and paid peer support.
