Dementia Australia has a free session on Thursday 27 August in South Perth on grief, loss and dementia. Suitable for family carers and other family members of people living with dementia it will cover an overview of the grief, loss and emotional impact of the changes caused by dementia. It’s recommended that participants have previously attended an introductory session on dementia.

With the rate of young-onset dementia on the rise, a new online resource has been launched to provide evidence-based support to newly diagnosed Australians. Young-onset dementia occurs before the age of 65 and is often misdiagnosed as anxiety or depression.

Forward with Dementia now includes an entirely new focus targeting those who have had a recent diagnosis of young-onset dementia and their families. The website provides short, easy-to-read articles on an enormous range of topics and offers the ability to do a deep dive into linked, trustworthy resources.

This session invites carers, health organisations and providers to share information on the challenges they encounter and help to identify what the solutions are. The Neurological Council of WA is launching a Bunbury Neurological Support Group for people impacted by neurological conditions, along with their families and carers.

NeuFriends groups aim to provide a calm and inclusive environment with opportunities for peer connection. Starting on 12 August the Bunbury NeuFriends group will meet regularly on the second Wednesday of each month from 10.00am - 12.00pm at the City of Bunbury Public Library.
