Did you know St Paul’s is part of a much bigger Presentation story?

St Paul’s was founded by the Presentation Sisters and is part of a wider network of Presentation schools inspired by the vision of Nano Nagle. This legacy of education, compassion and opportunity continues to guide our school community today.

Through this shared heritage, St Paul’s is proud to be connected with the Iona Presentation Foundation, which launched last year to support and strengthen access to a Presentation education across Western Australia.

As part of this partnership, eligible students at St Paul’s will soon have the opportunity to apply for financial support through a new bursary program. Initially awarding a bursary to one student each year, the program aims to support students who may otherwise miss out on the opportunity for a Presentation education.

We are proud to be part of the wider Presentation community and grateful for the ways this partnership will continue to support students and families here in Karratha.

More information about the bursary program will be shared in Term 2.

This morning we were delighted to welcome Principals from Presentation schools across Western Australia for a special breakfast gathering ☀️

It was a wonderful opportunity to share more about our new Presentation Bursary Program, launching this year and inspired by the vision of Nano Nagle — helping ensure a Presentation education remains accessible to those who might otherwise miss the opportunity.

We were also privileged to hear beautiful reflections from several of the Presentation Sisters on the enduring values of inclusivity and 'paying it forward', values that continue to guide Presentation communities today.

Most of all, it was a lovely morning of connection, strengthening relationships between our Presentation schools and the Foundation, and celebrating the shared mission that brings us together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to support the future of Presentation education.

As students and staff return to classrooms across the Presentation community, we’re reminded why the work of the Iona Presentation Foundation exists: to support education shaped by justice, compassion and hope.

This term, we look forward to strengthening connections, championing opportunity, and helping ensure the Presentation mission continues to flourish at Iona Presentation College and beyond.

Wishing all students, educators and families a meaningful start to the term.

Iona Presentation College, named after the Scottish Isle of Iona, was founded on 11 September 1907, by five Presentation Sisters from Kildare, Ireland. They followed a call in the 1900s that brought them to Western Australia.

Today, the College preserves the rich tradition, charism and story of the Presentation Sisters that has transformed Iona from its humble beginnings to the highly sought-after Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 educational facility that it is.

From the very beginning, the work of the Presentation Sisters has been rooted in the belief that a quality Catholic education for one young person, can empower a community, now and into the future.

It’s why the Presentation Sisters’ founder, Honora ‘Nano’ Nagle, devoted her life to the service of the poor and needy.

During her lifetime, Nano Nagle established and operated seven schools for girls and boys. By day she visited her schools and by night she supported those in need. Dark and treacherous work, Nano travelled by the light of a lantern, and became known as ‘the Lady of the Lantern’.

Nagle Catholic College in Geraldton has a rich history, tracing its roots back to 1891 with the founding of Stella Maris College by the Presentation Sisters and St Patrick’s College in 1926 by the Christian Brothers.

These schools served the community for decades before merging in the late 1980s to form Nagle Catholic College in 1994.

Named after Nano Nagle, the College continues to operate with the Presentation Sisters mission in mind, providing a quality Catholic education to enhance dynamic learning experiences and social justice.

The College's motto “For Others” continues to guide its purpose today and into the future.
