Welcome to "Cans for Carnaby’s" - Containers for Change!
I am passionate about the magnificent Black-Cockatoo, especially the endangered Carnaby's Cockatoo, whose survival is being threatened by habitat destruction. The lack of suitable nesting trees has become a critical issue, as these birds struggle to find places to breed due to the loss of their natural habitat.
This inspired me to launch this fundraising initiative on my local Sustainability page, with the goal of sponsoring Artificial Breeding Hollows to provide safe nesting spaces for Carnaby’s Cockatoos.
I’m thrilled to share that in just four months, we’ve raised enough funds to sponsor our first breeding hollow thru Carnaby's Crusaders which now has nesting Carnaby’s! We’re well on our way to funding the next one.
Of course another critical issue these cockatoos face is starvation due to the destruction of their habitat. With fewer native trees and plants providing food, many birds struggle to survive, making it even more vital that we step in to help preserve what’s left of their environment.
Moving forward, the funds raised will go towards supporting local organizations dedicated to the conservation of these beautiful birds - including breeding hollows.
