I hate wasting paint.
Rather than watch the leftover paint from a recent workshop disappear down the sink, I brushed it onto a fresh canvas and decided to see where it would lead.
What makes this piece especially meaningful is that the paint came from a Reconciliation Week workshop, where we gathered to learn about the Yonga (grey kangaroo) and Marlu (red kangaroo) through stories shared by First Nations artist Danielle Champion.
The paints on this canvas were mixed, used and shared by people who came together in the spirit of reconciliation. Listening, learning, reflecting and creating alongside one another.
It feels fitting that something new has emerged from those leftover colours. A small reminder that the conversations, connections and learning from that day continue long after the workshop ends. 🖤💛❤️
Sometimes the most meaningful artwork starts with what remains. 🎨✨
