Here are a few photos from Thursday, 1 October, of our residents enjoying an al fresco BBQ lunch beneath clear blue skies, surrounded by flowers and olive trees in our beautiful courtyard. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, recognising the warmth, wisdom and care that older generations contribute to our community every day.

Huge thanks to those who came and made it such a special day and to our wonderful videographer (Blend Motion Perth).

Interested in our "higher than national average care?" mentioned in the video...The national average length of stay in permanent residential aged care in Australia is around 1.7 years (20 months). At Hellenic Community Aged Care, our own data tells a different story: our residents stay an average of 4.51 years (54 months). Notably, one of our past residents lived with us for over 18 years!

Join us at the Hellenic Community Aged Care Family Open Day on Sunday, 27 September, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Hellenic Community Aged Care, 2B Hellenic Drive, Dianella WA 6059.
Enjoy a wonderful afternoon with free souvlaki, BBQ, refreshments and coffee, along with plenty of live entertainment, including performances by our Greek Seniors Choirs, a professional jazz singer, and, of course, Greek dancing.

Today at Hellenic Community Aged Care, we came together over a BBQ to mark R U OK? Day with our residents and employees. 💛

R U OK? Day is an important reminder that a simple conversation can make a meaningful difference. Taking the time to check in, listen and genuinely ask “Are you OK?” can help someone feel supported and remind them that they are not alone.

Our BBQ was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, share a meal and enjoy the sense of connection that is such an important part of our community.

While today puts the message in the spotlight, checking in with one another matters every day.

A conversation could change a life. 💛
