28/09/25-04/10/25
58ACU, along with another 500 cadets from across WA , deployed to Bindoon Training Area to test their field skills and participate in a range of physical challenges like abseiling, weapons handling and engineering.
On Saturday morning cadets arrived at Irwin Barracks to participate in a parade along with the rest of the Brigade, marching with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Banner.
On Sunday 58 ACU competed in the Skill at Arms Challenge, taking home the win for Junior First Aid!
For the rest of the camp the cadets were split into three Tiers, with each group undertaking their own specific training based on their respective experience level. Tier 1 saw cadets on their first AFX learn basic skills such as living in the bush, fieldcraft, navigation and first aid. In Tier 2 cadets got to choose to develop an elective skill such as field engineering, marksmanship, advanced communications or first aid. A select group of cadets were given the opportunity to tackle Tier 3, where experienced cadets participated in high pressure scenario based training.
During the camp, cadets got the opportunity to live fire the Australian Army service weapon, the EF88 Austeyr Rifle, under supervision and guidance from ADF personnel.
Congratulations to all the members of 58 ACU who completed AFX 2025, it was a blast!
