05 June - The Naksa

Yesterday marked the anniversary of the Naksa (The Setback) of 1967, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly displaced following the occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem.

We remember the communities uprooted, the villages destroyed, and the generations who continue to carry the keys, memories, and hope of return.

The Naksa is not just history - it is a continuing struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination.

🇵🇸 We remember. We resist. We will return.

Slide 1

PCWA proudly acknowledges National Reconciliation Week and reaffirms our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, respect, learning, and meaningful partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Slide 2

Walking Together: Partnership with Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation

PCWA's commitment to reconciliation includes building genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

One example is our ongoing relationship with Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation, a First Nations organisation that strengthens culture, identity, belonging and community wellbeing.

Through engagement with organisations such as Dumbartung, we continue to learn, build understanding, and support First Nations voices and communities.

Our partnership reflects a shared belief that healing, justice and community empowerment are strengthened when communities walk together in mutual respect.

Slide 3

Supporting First Nations Self-Determination: Pay The Rent

PCWA recognises that reconciliation requires action.

As part of our commitment, we have contributed to the Pay The Rent movement, which supports First Nations self-determination through direct resource sharing with Aboriginal communities.

Pay The Rent is not charity. It is a grassroots model that respects Aboriginal leadership and ensures First Nations communities determine how resources are used.

Through these contributions, PCWA continues to support justice, dignity, self-determination and meaningful reconciliation in practice.

78 years to the day.

On 23 May 1948, the massacre in Tantura became one of many tragedies of the Nakba, a history many have never been taught, but survivors still carry.

Join us for a screening of Tantura as we gather to bear witness, remember, and reflect on a tragedy whose impact continues today.

Nakba is not history, it is memory, loss, resistance, and an ongoing call for justice. Today, we honour those displaced, those lost, and those who continue to resist and remember.
