As a supporter of the Home Time campaign, we are asking Mission Australia followers to take action this week.

The Youth Housing Penalty needs to change, so that young people experiencing homelessness can access safe, affordable housing.

You can show your support in urging Government to include a targeted Youth Housing Supplement in the 2026-27 Federal Budget

Head to the Home Time website and add your voice to the growing list of supporters.

By Us, For Us – Our Community Journey
🗓 2020 | Listening begins (Maddington)
Conversations, youth voices and community consultations highlighted a shared hope: more safety, belonging and cultural respect. People spoke openly about loneliness, discrimination, housing stress and finding their way through services.
🗓 2021–2023 | Learning together
Families, Elders and local services reinforced the need for culturally safe, trauma‑informed spaces and stronger connections that help people feel proud and supported.
🗓 2024 | A bigger picture emerges
It became clear that community life doesn’t stop at suburb boundaries. People live, move and belong across neighbourhoods.
🗓 2024–2025 | Expanding to the City of Gosnells
Our focus grew, building on strong foundations and shaping a truly place‑based approach led by community, not for community.
🗓 Now | From ideas to action
A diverse working group is coming together, building trust, sharing skills and turning local knowledge into practical action , starting small, learning as we go, and creating change by us, for us.
