Following our AGM held Saturday 15th February 2025, the decision was made jointly by the committee and those members present, that it was not viable for NASSF to continue operating. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart, that we announce the closure of NASSF after 32+ years of serving our members.
NASSF began in 1993 as a day surgery special interest group and since that time has continued to provide exceptional education opportunities for its members and non-members alike, with regular education evenings throughout the year as well as an annual conference.
In 1995, NASSF was a founding member of the Australian Day Surgery Nurses Association (ADSNA), providing all NASSF members with complimentary membership to the national association. In collaboration with ADSNA, there have been multiple national conferences, development of the first ADSNA Best Practice Guidelines for Ambulatory Surgery and Procedures, as well as multiple reviews and updates, The Day Surgery Australia Journal which was in print for many years and e-newsletters.
Over the years we have had many members of the executive committee who have given so freely of their time to support our WA Day Surgery Nurses and we thank each one of you for your selfless contribution.
Last but by no means least, we extend a special thanks to all of you – our members and friends – who have supported NASSF and the committee over its many years. We wish you all continued success and good health and wellbeing into the future.
