The Valuing Children Initiative - VCI Creating an Australia where all children can thrive Together we can build a population that values all children. Like, share and comment on our posts.

The Valuing Children Initiative (VCI) is a social project that seeks to inspire Australians to value all children, understand that a child’s wellbeing is the shared responsibility of the entire community and ensure children are at the forefront of our considerations. We strive to ensure that children and young people are valued, and at the forefront of our minds in all aspects of our lives and dec

ision-making. Driven by a passion for the wellbeing of children and young people, we believe that all children should be valued. Children have no choice about the circumstances of their birth, or their childhood, and they rely on adults to care about their wellbeing. Our work is underpinned by four core pillars; Voice, Listening, Safety and Growth.

* We invite children to have a voice.
* We call upon adults to listen to children.
* We believe it is everyone's responsibility to keep children safe.
* We believe all children should be given opportunities for healthy growth and development. The Valuing Children Initiative recognises that systemic barriers prevent many children from reaching their full potential. We seek to change this by working collaboratively and positively to achieve attitudinal and behavioural change that benefits all children. If you believe that all children deserve a safe, caring and supportive childhood then join us in the Valuing Children Movement! Get in touch: [email protected]

The Commissioner for Children and Young People WA has a question for young people attending school -
What is one thing you are looking forward to about starting back at school this year and what is one thing you’re worried about?

The Commissioner for Children and Young People WA have created this cool feature on their website called the DigiMe voices to get thoughts from young people, in a fun, interactive and safe way.

Past questions include: What do you think of the social media ban? What would you do to change the world? 🌍 and How can adults (think of people like your parents, relatives, teachers, sports coach) help you feel better when you are sad?

We are proud to share that all Commissioners for Children and Young People across Australia are supporters of the End Child Poverty campaign.

This collective leadership recognises a simple truth:
No child should experience poverty in a country with the resources to prevent it.

At the Valuing Children Initiative, we work to change societal attitudes so that children and young people are valued and their needs are the first priority. Ending child poverty is fundamental to ensuring children are safe, heard, and able to thrive.

We thank the Commissioners for standing with children and young people and for championing their rights at every level.

Together, we can build an Australia where every child is valued.

🎒 Welcome back to school, kids of Australia! 🎒

A new school year means new adventures, new friendships and plenty of learning along the way. Every child brings their own spark — their ideas, feelings, creativity and dreams.

When we value children, we make sure school is a place where they feel safe, included and heard. A place where it’s okay to try, to wobble, to grow and to shine.

To our young leaders, this year, we hope you feel excited to learn, grow and show the world what you can do. You have your own special spark, and we hope you let it shine as you reach for your full potential.

We also hope you remember this: not everyone feels like they belong every day. Being kind, including others and looking out for one another helps make school a better place for everyone.
You don’t have to be the best — just be yourself, and be kind along the way.

We’re cheering you on 💛

Child Rights are Human Rights.
And its time Australia had a Human Rights ACT!

The UK, Norway, New Zealand and South Africa and many other countries called on Australia to implement an Australian Human Rights Act last night. They listened to the call from 150+ Australian civil society organisations that called for human rights to be placed at the heart of our laws so that everyone can enjoy their rights.
