The GMC Technology & Innovation Summit sparked fantastic conversations exploring manufacturing opportunities, technology and innovation, and success stories from across the industry.

AROSE CEO Jason Crusan joined the Advanced Innovation & Opportunities panel alongside Matthew Di**le (FormFlow), James Heffernan (Modularity), Angeline Achariya (Innovation Game Changers) and Nick Birbilis (Deakin University) to explore where Australia can win across space technologies, construction, agribusiness and beyond.

It was great to hear from industry leaders as well as Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Member for Corio the Hon Richard Marles MP, Minister for Industry and Innovation Senator Tim Ayres, and National Reconstruction Fund Corporation CEO David Gall.

Thank you to the Geelong Manufacturing Council for bringing it all together!

On Tuesday, AROSE CEO Jason Crusan joined the panel 'Building the Next-Generation Security Economy: AI, Cyber and Quantum,' at the Nikkei Asia Forum Perth.

The forum brought together leaders from government, business and academia to explore key issues shaping Japan–Australia economic security, as both countries mark 50 years of bilateral relations.

Jason shared that it was a privilege to share the stage with Michelle Simmons AC (Silicon Quantum Computing), David McKeering (NTT DATA Australia and New Zealand), Hideaki Yoshimura (Quantum Brilliance Japan), and moderator Sophie Mak (Nikkei Asia).

Three reflections from the day:

🔹Dual-use is no longer optional - it’s the design principle. The capability stack that protects critical infrastructure, accelerates decarbonisation and unlocks new industries is the same one that underwrites sovereign defence capability. AI, cyber, quantum, autonomy and remote operations sit on a single integrated stack.

🔹Australia’s industrial heritage is a sovereign space asset. The remote-operations expertise that built our resources sector is exactly what the lunar economy, contested-space resilience and allied industrial cooperation now need. Australia is uniquely placed to lead.

🔹The next chapter is industry-to-industry. Government-to-government cooperation between Australia and Japan is in its strongest shape in 50 years. Closing the industry-side gap with structured, repeatable forums for co-development is where the next decade of value will be created.

Thank you to the sponsors, partners and the brilliant Nikkei team who made the day possible.

Our AVISTA Program has officially wrapped up, having engaged over 70,000 Australians and almost 1 in 5 secondary schools nationwide in the last 12 months.

Supported by the Australian Government’s Schools Pathways Program, AVISTA delivered hands-on, curriculum-linked STEM experiences across the country, inspiring students to pursue pathways into STEM and defence industry careers.

Program highlights:
🔹375 schools engaged nationwide across every state and territory, with in-person shows delivered to 312 schools.
🔹54% of schools reached from regional, rural and remote areas, and 58% from low socio-economic regions.
🔹6 program streams delivered: in-school shows, VR experiences, teacher professional learning, STEM challenges, career events and a STEM camp.
🔹3 major STEM career events delivered across Newcastle, Brisbane and Perth.

Together, these outcomes represent a significant step forward in strengthening Australia’s STEM and defence industry talent pipeline while increasing access, deepening industry engagement, and creating lasting impact for regional and underrepresented communities.

While the AVISTA chapter has closed, AROSE remains committed to building national capability and supporting the future STEM workforce through ongoing outreach initiatives.

Thank you to the Department of Defence and our program partners for making this journey possible: Fizzics Education, Gilmour Space Technologies, Gunggandji Aerospace, Illuminate FNQ, Joseph Banks Secondary College, Nova Systems, and the UWA Defence and Security Institute.
