Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club

Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club Official page of Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club - QMSLSC In 1982 the Quinns Rocks Surf Life Saving Club was formed.

The first club-room was a small shed donated by the local authority. This was quickly outgrown and a larger shed paid for and built by the members. This shed was to become the club's home for the next 15 years. During this time the club changed it's name to the Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club. In early 2005 after many years of negotiations with the City of Wanneroo the club was able to move

into the purpose built club-rooms that we occupy today. This project was made possible by monies from the City of Wanneroo, Mirvac Fini and a Lotterywest grant through SLSWA. We now proudly boast a growing membership base, from our Woodside Nipper program, youth development and Patrolling members, QMSLSC provides an essential service to the Quinns Mindarie community, through our engaging and supportive club.

A huge shout out to our some of our female members who have been out on the water building their skills and taking the next step in their powercraft journey!

We love seeing more women getting involved in IRBs, learning new skills, backing themselves and having a go. And we can’t wait to see them out on the water this season, showing our younger girls coming through Nippers exactly what’s possible.

Because if you can’t see it, you can’t be it. 💙

And behind every course like this is a whole crew of people making it happen. A massive thank you to all the trainers, assessors, IRB crew and volunteers who shared their time, knowledge and experience to support the Women in Powercraft program.

More women in powercraft. More skills in our club. More role models for the next generation of QMSLSC… and, dare we say it, an even bigger IRB race team might be coming! 🤣🙈

Our new Race One Nipper boards have arrived!

These are our brand new Race One foamie boards, and they’re an important part of how our younger Nippers learn the skills they’ll use as they progress through surf lifesaving.

Foamies are designed to help kids learn the basics of board paddling; how to balance, paddle efficiently, catch waves, negotiate the surf and, most importantly, build confidence in the ocean.

They’re a great stepping stone before progressing onto the larger fibreglass racing and lifesaving boards they’ll use as their skills develop.

And while learning those skills is the priority, there’s also plenty of fun to be had! Our Nippers can use them in training and start having a go at board racing at carnivals too.

We’re pretty excited to see this lot hit the water…!

Welcome back, Connect Resources!

We’re proud to have Connect Resources supporting our club again this season. Their backing helps us support our members, strengthen our club and continue serving our local community.

When local businesses support local clubs, the whole community benefits. We encourage our members, families and supporters to return that support by choosing the businesses that choose to back us.

To our local business community: sponsoring our club is more than putting your name on a sign. It’s an opportunity to connect with local families, build community recognition and show that your business genuinely supports the people around it.

If your business wants to be seen, supported and celebrated by our club community, we’d love to have you on board this season. Send us a message to discuss sponsorship opportunities.

Members, our latest newsletter should be sitting in your inbox now.

And yes, it’s a long one, but there’s a lot happening at QMSLSC as we get ready for the new season.

It includes membership renewals and volunteer rebate information, Open Day details, important Woodside Nippers dates, upcoming lifesaving courses, new Spond groups and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

There are quite a few dates to remember, so please take some time to read through it properly and add the ones relevant to you to your calendar.

If you haven’t received it, check your junk, spam or promotions folder. Still nothing? Email [email protected] and we’ll make sure you’re added to the mailing list.

Summer is on its way (we promise!). Today’s pouring rain may suggest otherwise, but the countdown to another QMSLSC season has officially begun!

We’re incredibly proud to see some familiar faces among the young people recognised at the Pearce Student Volunteer Awards.

Several of our patrolling youth members are featured below, receiving well-deserved recognition for the time, energy and commitment they give to their community.

Surf lifesaving isn’t just for Nippers. Our youth members learn vital skills such as CPR, first aid and water safety, while building fitness, confidence, leadership, friendships and valuable experience both on the beach and in the water.

Most importantly, they have the opportunity to become active volunteers and make a genuine difference in their local community.

Congratulations to all 19 young volunteers recognised, especially our wonderful club members. We’re very proud of you and everything you contribute.

Want to discover what surf lifesaving could offer your family? Come along to our Open Day on 19 September, meet the club and find out how to get involved.

Our Club Busy Bee is coming up on Saturday 5 September, starting at 8am.

There’s plenty to do to get the Club ready for the season, and we’d really appreciate some extra hands. If you can spare an hour or stay for the morning, come down, say hello and help us get the place looking s***k and span.

Like most things around the Club, it’s much easier when we all pitch in. We’d love to see you there.

There’s something pretty special about a surf club.

Yes, there are Nippers. There are boards, flags, IRBs, patrols, training, racing and plenty of sandy feet.

But really, it’s the people that make it.

It’s kids growing in confidence. Teenagers finding their place. Parents making friends they didn’t expect to make. Volunteers learning new skills. Members pushing themselves in competition. And people giving their time to help keep our beach safe.

On Saturday 19th September, we’re opening the doors at Quinns Mindarie SLSC and inviting the community to come and see what we’re all about.

Our trainers will be there to chat about Bronze Medallion courses and other training opportunities. Our Nippers Age Managers will be around to answer all the questions you might have about nippers. Our volunteers and members will be there too, so you can hear what being part of the club is actually like from the people who do it every week.

There’ll be plenty happening across the morning, including opportunities for the kids to get involved and have a go.

So if you’ve ever driven past and wondered what goes on behind the doors, thought about getting your Bronze, wanted your kids to try Nippers, felt like volunteering, or just wondered whether surf lifesaving might be for you - come down and have a chat with us.

You don’t need to be an amazing swimmer. You don’t need to know anything about surf lifesaving. And you definitely don’t need to already know someone at the club.

Patrol Members we need you!

We are looking for new Patrol Captains and Vice Captains this season. The more PC’s & VC’s we have, the more patrol teams we can create.

More patrol teams, means less patrols each for the season. We are ideally looking for 12 teams this season. If you’re interested please reach out to the DoL (Richard L) or CC (Lily T)

The official nomination form will be released shortly.
