The world of a support coordinator comes with challenges, but it is also filled with meaningful and rewarding moments. For Tim, one of the most valuable parts of his role is guiding clients and families through the young onset dementia journey.

“Creating more opportunities for people to connect with others and take part in activities they enjoy is one of the greatest highlights of my role,” Tim says.

Tim explains that, at The Dementia Foundation, clients are carefully matched with support workers based on more than just availability. Shared interests, personalities and individual needs are considered to help build trust and create a natural connection.

A lovely story from our partner Little Wings 🛩️ Meet Jamie, 11, from Valery on the Mid North Coast — today marks her first Little Wings mission, bound for Manly. Flying with her mum to spend a week undergoing intensive assessment and forming a care plan, with critical services that just aren't available in regional NSW. This is what easing the journey looks like 👇

Introducing Jamie, 11 years old and a resident of Valery on the Mid North Coast. Today, marks her first Little Wings mission, bound for Manly.

Little Wings is partnered with Royal Far West, providing wraparound support and paediatric developmental assessment and medical assistance. Jamie and her mum, flying in to spend a week with the team to undergo intensive assessment and to form a care plan moving forward.

These critical services are not available in regional NSW, and yet assessment, diagnosis and a clear treatment plan can make all the difference in children engaging their support they need to reach their full potential.

These powerful collaborations make the difference in truly supporting families in meaningful ways… and easing the journey.
