Equal Health was founded in 1999 to provide free multi-disciplinary health services to people in need

Placements are available for Optometrists, Nurses, G.Ps, Dentists, Dental Nurses, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists and O.Ts in various locations in India including Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Imagine not being able to go to the doctor when you're unwell or the dentist when you have a toothache. This is the reality many people in India face who simply don't have access to every day health services that most Australians take for granted. Opportunities for short term meaningful and life changing travel experiences are now available for health professionals who wish to volunteer their skills, to help underprivileged people access health care in rural India. It's amazing the difference a pair of glasses, dental care or health care can make to someone's life. Bringing freedom from dental pain and improved health are what Equal Health works hard to achieve each year. According to our team of health professionals and from leaders in communities we serve, Equal Health's programs can be life changing, both for the people we serve and our volunteers.

We are so excited to share the successful completion of the Equal Health West Bengal, India Camp 2026 🇮🇳✨

Our amazing multidisciplinary team — including a podiatrist, a dietitian, a clinical psychologist, a nurse and 2 final year nursing student, a speech pathologist and an occupational therapist — touched down back home in Australia just a few days ago after an unforgettable and rewarding trip. Together, they volunteered at Anandaniketan Society for Mental Health Care and Childlife Preserve Shishur Sevay, re-establishing connections with local communities and supporting ongoing care 🤝💛

It was an incredible experience filled with service, learning, teamwork, rich cultural exchange and fun. 🌏

On May 29th and 30th, Equal Health proudly supported a two-day First Aid and CPR training course for the staff of Childlife Preserve Shishur Sevay, an orphanage in Kolkata, India (www.shishursevay.org, .sevay). This program marked an important milestone in our ongoing partnership with Childlife Preserve Shishur Sevay — an organisation we have shared many health initiatives with over the years.

The training was a long-held aspiration for the team at Childlife Preserve Shishur Sevay, who work tirelessly to care for children with complex medical and developmental needs. With hands-on instruction and real-world scenarios, the course equipped staff with essential skills to respond to emergencies with confidence and care.

Their words say it best: “The First Aid and CPR training was a long–awaited dream of Shishur Sevay, finally transformed into an incredible success. We are grateful to Equal Health for turning our hope into reality.”

Equal Health remains committed to supporting these communities through capacity-building and practical health education. We’re honoured to have played a part in helping Childlife Preserve Shishur Sevay strengthen their ability to provide safe, informed care.
