Royal Event - Penguin

Royal Event - Penguin The Penguin History Group and a local Royal Event Committee are organising a week of celebratory activities.

Its aim is to commemorate the Royal Tour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1954, as well as the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II in 2022.

So pleased Penguin commemorated last year, the visit of Queen Elizabeth to Penguin in 1954 and celebrated the Platinum Jubilee. The 3 trees planted will be memorials of a queen who visited Penguin, stopped to watch the wood chopping and lived a remarkable life. R.I.P your Majesty.๐Ÿ‘‘

Every commemorative tree should have a plaque to tell the story to future generations. This was the message today from Hugh Hiscutt at the unveiling of the plaque commemorating the Queen's visit to Penguin in 1954 and celebrating her Platinum Jubilee. His message was conveyed by the Hon Leonie Hiscutt as Hugh was unwell. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank Leonie for stepping in. Paddington Bear joined us for morning tea which followed the unveiling.
