Hello folks! It's been busy times in the Car 245 garage and we owe you an update!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to Variety - the Children's Charity of Victoria so far - and we remind you that every $1 you donate goes directly to Variety - the Children's Charity of Victoria.
Car 245 is officially on the road! Roadworthy & registered after a great effort from Wayne Morgan and Melvin Blackhurst getting all the rust repairs done, and general team effort to sort all the little issues that 44 year old cars face when fronting up for a roadworthy.
Now we move into "Bash preparation" phase where we prep the car to be robust, reliable, and suitable for the conditions we will face.
We are pleased to announce what we hope is a very accessible fundraising initiative - we hereby invite you to be members of the Car 245 Variety Bash Bowls Club!
Membership starts at $20 (or $25 if you want your membership ticket mailed out to you). Your membership ticket is this wonderful themed drink cooler which allows you free entry to every tournament that we run. How much you contribute is only limited by your imagination (and generosity). Corporate donations are very welcome - $200 will get your bumper sticker on the car, up to $1,000 will get you on a door/window/tailgate - just let us know what you want!
Finally, let us share a sneak peek at our new club uniforms, with huge thanks to Belinda Squires for her efforts in getting us outfitted in a most fitting fashion!

All has not been quiet here at the Variety Bash Bowls Club! A lot of TLC being given to our chariot in preparation of getting it roadworthy and registered. Also a little bit of prep making it "Bash worthy" in accordance with the Bash guidelines. Along the way we have been working on our team theme, collecting a few bits and pieces. Anyone with any bowls paraphernalia they would be willing to contribute would be most well received!

We are hoping to raise at least $5,000 for Variety. Every dollar you donate is paid directly to Variety; none of your money is spent on the vehicle or any other costs of the journey.
If you want to talk to us about corporate sponsorship, please do. We would love to feature your business logo/sign/identification on the vehicles - for a donation to Variety, of course!

We are doing the Bash!
Wayne Morgan and I have decided it was time for both an adventure and a community purpose.
driving across Australia to raise funds for kids in need.

We're driving change for kids in need on the Variety Bash - the original outback motoring adventure built on mateship, challenge and making a real difference.
Our crew will be hitting the road in a 44+ year-old themed car, taking on remote tracks and rough roads across regional Australia - all to raise funds for kids who need support.
This isn’t just a road trip - it’s a chance to give back. Along the way, we’ll stop into schools and small towns to deliver grants and equipment directly to the families who need it most. You get to see exactly where your fundraising goes - and the impact it makes.
By donating to Variety – the Children’s Charity, you’ll help:
Provide vital equipment like wheelchairs and communication aids
Build inclusive playgrounds where every kid can join in
Support education through programs and scholarships
Fund special events that bring joy and connection to families doing it tough
Every donation counts. With your support, we can help more kids gain independence, confidence, and the chance to live life to the fullest.
Back our Variety Bash car and donate to change lives, one town, one child, one kilometre at a time

A wonderful classic Duck Egg Blue 1982 Volvo 245 Station Wagon with nearly 340,000k's is our chariot of choice to carry us across the country.
With a car like this, it wasn't hard to come up with the theme!
Get ya bowling hats out and let's roll! (see what I did there!)
