Ten swimmers travelled to the Crystal Brook Open Carnival on Saturday 14 March and represented the club with great enthusiasm and team spirit.

It was a successful day in the pool, with our swimmers bringing home 7 medals across the day, with tough competition from teams across Adelaide, the Riverland, Barossa, Mount Barker, Whyalla, Clare, Port Pirie, and other local clubs โ€” a total of 18 clubs. Everyone swam strongly, supported each other, and showed great sportsmanship throughout the carnival.

Medal results:
๐Ÿฅˆ Silver
Hayden Laskey โ€“ Mixed 10 & Under 25m Freestyle HCP

Stacey Shackleford โ€“ Scratch 30 & Over 25m Freestyle

๐Ÿฅ‰ Bronze
Levi Bowman - Scratch boys 8 and under 25m breaststroke.

Lara Gibb โ€“ Mixed 11โ€“14 50m Freestyle HCP

Libby Gibb โ€“ 30 & Over 25m Freestyle HCP

Hannah Bowman โ€“ Scratch 30 & Over 25m Freestyle and Scratch 30 & Over 25m Breaststroke

A big thank you to Team Manager Nat Laskey for keeping everything running smoothly for our swimmers on the day. Special mention also goes to Fred Laskey, timerkeeper in Lane 5 for the day.

Well done to all our swimmers for their efforts and for representing Orroroo Swimming Club so proudly. We look forward to the 2026โ€“2027 swimming season.

Late Post!!

It was another great day on Sunday 1/2/26 at the JAMESTOWN OPEN!!

They had SO MANY entries but still managed to pull off a successful, smooth sailing day of competition ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Orroroo was very proud of their 7 representatives who were quite speedy on the day smashing out PBs left, right & centre.

Sophie and Charlie were our medal winners and a big congratulations to them both! Telia & Nat also made it to finals but alas โ€˜no cigarsโ€™.

The water looked really beautiful and by midafternoon the thought of accidentally falling in was looking quite attractive to many spectators. โ˜€๏ธ โ˜€๏ธ โ˜€๏ธ there may, or may not, have been a few reports of sunburn the next day.

Thank you Sam Gibb for doing the lion's share of the timing!

Your Team Manager for-a-day.
Megan.

FANTASTIC DAY AT THE BOOLEROO CENTRE OPEN

Orroroo was well represented on Sunday (15/2/26) with 15 swimmers, all swimming their hearts out for our proud little club!

It was the perfect day weather wise and a very well run carnival.

Thanks to the Gibb family (& Trish & Casey) we had a lovely gazebo to gather under and cheer loudly from!

Thanks also to our capable Team Manager: Anna Hooper and our dutiful volunteers who took it in turns to help me with the timing all day: Sam & Libby Gibb, Sam & Abbie Kuerschner and Keeley๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Our swimmers won 11 medals all up and Iโ€™d say itโ€™s been MANY YEARS since weโ€™ve had such a haul?

Hereโ€™s our medal breakdownโ€ฆ.

GOLD ๐Ÿฅ‡
Fletcher Bowman: 50m breaststroke HCP.

SILVER๐Ÿฅˆ
Stacey Shackleford: 25m Freestyle.

BRONZE ๐Ÿฅ‰
Lara Gibb: 25m Freestyle HCP.

Telia Goehring: 50m Freestyle HCP.

Phoebe Hooper: 50m Backstroke scratch.

Hannah Bowman: 25m Freestyle HCP AND 25m Freestyle scratch.

Then of course our โ€˜Golden Oldiesโ€™ ๐Ÿคฃ Nat Laskey/Libby Gibb/Hannah Bowman & Stacey Shackleford: in their Medley relay.

โค๏ธCongratulations Orroroo๐Ÿ–ค. Megan.

On behalf of the Port Pirie Amateur Swimming Club, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who played a part in making the 2026 SA Country Championships such a success.

We knew early on that, as a small club, this was something we simply couldnโ€™t do alone. Hosting this event as part of the Upper North District Swimming Association โ€” comprising Crystal Brook Swimming Club, Jamestown Swim Club, Orroroo Swimming Club - Public Page, Booleroo Centre and Gladstone Swimming Clubs โ€” required countless meetings, hours of planning, and an enormous investment of time and energy.

It was the collective efforts of our wonderful friends across the district, the coming together of our clubs, and the passion, commitment and tireless work of a truly amazing organising committee that made this Championship possible. We genuinely could not have done it without the UNDSA โ€” we really were Stronger Together ๐Ÿ’ช

Across four fantastic days, we witnessed excellent swimming, incredible sportsmanship and a strong sense of community, and we are immensely proud of what we were able to achieve both in and out of the pool.

Thank you to our volunteers, officials, swimmers, families and supporters, across all of our clubs โ€” your dedication and support made all the difference. This is something we can all be incredibly proud of ๐Ÿ’™

Thatโ€™s a wrap on the 24/25 season!

With well over registered swimmers from dolphins to adults, this season was another great step forward for OSC. While we couldnโ€™t run our Under 5s group due to coaching availability, it was fantastic to see strong numbers and continued growth in our club โ€” including three adult swimmers joining in!

Despite tricky weather and a long weekend, we successfully hosted two home carnivals โ€” a huge thank you to all the volunteers who made them happen and for their incredible efforts.

Our Friday night carnival swimmers showed awesome resilience, regularly facing much larger teams. And still, we managed to hold our own saw our swimmers achieving some amazing personal bests!

We also had a strong showing at the Booleroo Open Carnival, with several swimmers bringing home 6 medals in total โ€” an awesome achievement!

Also big thanks to outgoing position holders and those that have picked up the mantle. Your efforts are massively appreciated and our club couldnโ€™t function without you!
