Barossa German Language Association Inc. (BGLA)

The Barossa German Language Association Inc. (BGLA) was established in 2015 by Dr Peter Mickan (University of Adelaide) and aims to document, maintain and revive German as a community language in South Australia's Barossa Valley. The German language has a long history in the region due to the migration of many Germans to South Australia from the 1850s.

Our Activities

organising events to promote learning and using the German language in the region

monthly Kaffee und Kuchen gatherings with interesting guest speakers to offer informal conversation for speakers to maintain German
