Living Hope Zambia

Living Hope Zambia We are building a transit home in Chingola to house orphaned children short-term, so that long-term they can be returned to their families.

Living Hope, Zambia, was formed when we were asked to take in a 3 month old baby boy who had been turned over to Social Welfare by his father. His mother had died from complications in child-birth and his father was not equipped to care for him. The child would have died has his father kept him, so in love, he gave him up. We realised that this family, like many others in Zambia, short-term was un

able to provide adequate care for the infant child, but long-term, with some equipping and support should be able to. Our aim is to care for these children short-term, so that long-term we can return them to their families, instead of placing them in institutional care. For who can care for a child better than their own family?

The absolute JOY of opening the containers when they arrive.
From the oldest to the youngest of us, it's fun and exciting to see what is within.

Let the sorting and distribution preparations begin!

Some days, if it can go wrong, it will and you drop 5,000 rubber bands on your feet.

Others, every piece just falls into place and fits to perfection, like 2 containers arriving, being offloaded and ready in a matter of hours.

Either way, God is so good to us

These 2 beauties departed Aus bound for us mid-January.
They departed the Namibia/Zambia border on Friday around 08:15.
They're due to reach us, aside from other unforseen circumstances, most likely tomorrow...

Huge thanks is due to ALL of the incredibly selfless people who make this ministry possible.
Jim and Maz Newton who spearhead the operation in Aus.
Wynumm Christian community church who store, pack, inventory and so much more all of the items in these containers.
The hundreds of people who donate the items and the funds that allow us to fill containers and ship them.

This ministry is absolutely a team effort. Every person is a link in the chain that allows us to bless literally thousands of highly vulnerable individuals with items such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, uniforms, blankets, even toys for little ones and so much more.

Here on the ground of LH we get the privilege of being the final link in the very long chain of people as we literally provide the answer to people's prayers, and show them that Jesus does see and hear their plight and need.

Every set of hands that form the chain to get these containers of goods to us, you are the hands and feet of Christ, reaching out to the world. And we honour you for your faithfulness to God. Thank you for making this ministry possible.

When the farm manager says, we've got shortage of space for planting, and you look around the farm an can't help but agree with him.
1. You know there's a lot of veg in the ground.
2. You know the market demand is still increasing.

Hmmm, time to get moving on getting the new land portions cleared and leveled for use

At the start of the wet season we put money in for fuel for the council grader to work on the road out to LH. He started, then was diverted to some of our very rural areas to maintain roads through the wet season.
He arrived back onsite yesterday, which is incredibly timely as we have containers due to arrive onsite in the next couple of weeks and the road is currently dodgy!
God's timing is BEST!

Having help to do the administration work these days makes an enormous difference. It used to take me 3-4 months to complete end of financial year sufficiently to do the annual archiving and putting away of documents.

Today, just 18 days after our financial year ended the archiving is done. That's a serious shift in our ability to get jobs done in timely manner and keep up with the day to day work

We're 3/4 of the way through putting in the block fence at Living Hope, but our supplies are dwindling.
With less than 50 blocks remaining and zero pockets of cement, I'm renewing the call for financial help to complete the fence please.
Anyone willing to help, each block is approx. $1, and each pocket of cement is $13.
We need about 1800 blocks, and 25 cement.

Okay our muzungu friends... Here's a guessing game for you.
What do you think THIS is?
The only clues I'll give are that we just harvested it and our Zambian friends and customers love it! You all eat it, but it takes a different shape.
Zambians, no leakage, unless you use the name in local vernacular!! 🤣

11 years ago I was sooo excited to have established 6 binder files, a shelf of paper files and a dedicated office space that didn't have to be put away for every meal as it was claiming the dining room table.

Now we have 3 staff doing admin and other work, a dedicated office, 3 desks, 2 floor to ceiling shelves filled with files and resources and 3 filing cabinets.

From infancy to today
