🎶 Can you guess The Nits’ setlist? 🎶

Next Thursday, The Nits are hitting the stage at the Parents Battle of the Bands at The Croxton, so we thought we’d make things interesting 👀

Here are five clues for the five songs in their set. Drop your guesses in the comments ⬇️

🎤 Song 1: A 90s road-trip anthem involving "fun" and questionable life choices
🎤 Song 2: A classic singalong about being caught between two sides
🎤 Song 3: The world’s most relentlessly cheerful clap-along
🎤 Song 4: A power ballad from the era when rock bands had truly majestic hair
🎤 Song 5: An Australian heartbreak anthem that somehow still slaps in supermarket aisles

They're sounding good. Really good 👀🎶

The Nits will take the stage at the Parents Battle of the Bands next Thursday 14 May at The Croxton, and they're bringing the 90s and noughties hits you know and love to sing along to.

Come cheer them on and help raise money for school music programs while you're at it 🙌🏼

🎸 Meet The Nits, Northcote Primary's 2026 Parents Battle of the Bands lineup! 🎸

Olivia, Sam and Daniel on vocals (and guitar in Daniel's case), Del on bass, Michael on guitar and Tim on drums (not pictured!). They've got kids across every grade from prep to six and have been squeezing in rehearsals for weeks 💪🏼

Next Thursday 14 May they're up against five other local school parents' bands at The Croxton — Lost Property (Ivanhoe East PS), Assembly (Brunswick East PS), Megadebt (Westgarth PS), No Hat No Play (Wales Street PS) and Escuela de Rock (Newlands PS). The band names alone are worth the ticket price 😂

Expect 90s and noughties dance floor fillers, singalong ballads and a country twang 🤠🎶

Every ticket sold raises money for school music programs 🎵 Come show them some NPS love!

📣 Fundraising update 📣

The Northcote Primary School Fete raised $97K! Not bad for a Saturday 🙌🏼

Great day, great result! There were packed crowds, kids owning the stage, brisket sold out early, and a community that truly showed up. From Shaun’s space buns to Name the Chicken fetching $250 (!) in the Silent Auction, it was a a whole of community spirit on display.

Huge shout-out to the amazing volunteers who made it happen. It was no small effort 🙏🏼

And another huge shout-out to the businesses and individuals who supported the fete. We appreciate you 💛

The best part is, the funds raised are going straight back into the school: air con for the old building, 3D printer display/storage cases, new furniture and lockers, multimedia and STEM equipment, and a pull-out stage for the music rooms.

🙏 Thank you to our generous sponsors and local businesses who helped make the Northcote Primary School happen 🙏

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this year’s fete — all the businesses that donated to our Silent Auction, gave us discounted sausages and booze, and even loaned us clubs for mini golf (thanks What The Putt!).

Well. That escalated quickly ❤️💛💙💚

Slime the Teacher returned to the NPS Fete on Saturday, and let's just say Declan (Grade 5/6) wore it well after taking out the top votes.

But plot twist: for the first time ever, four students were slimed too — one for each house colour, thanks to some very committed Silent Auction bidders.

What followed? Absolute chaos. Slime everywhere. Zero survivors.

Auction for an Auction today was a nail biter! Congratulations to Martin and Karen who won with their $30k bid for their property in Thornbury. That’s $30k raised for Northcote Primary School! 🎉Huge! A big thank you to and for running the auction and again supporting our fete as a major sponsor.
