Last Wednesday we had our first Proud Peers drop-in!

We had lots of positive, q***r energy, connection and good vibes. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, bringing their authentic selves, and helping create such a welcoming and inclusive space.

We’re really happy with how the first one went and are already looking forward to the next! 🌈

🖤💛❤️ 50 Years of Deadly! ❤️💛🖤

This NAIDOC Week, headspace Northam is proud to celebrate 50 years of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visibility, systemic resistance, and cultural excellence. For five decades, the NAIDOC movement has championing community, truth-telling, and the incredible strength of First Nations peoples.

As we look back on this milestone, we also look forward continuing our commitment to walking alongside young Mob on Ballardong Noongar Boodja, ensuring a safe, supportive, and deadly space for mental health and wellbeing.

▪️ Meet at PCYC at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am departure

We are very proud of our YRG for completing SafeTALK su***de awareness training yesterday. 💚

safeTALK is a nationally accredited half day workshop that upskills anyone over the age of 15 to comfortably have conversations about mental health, recognise when a person may be having thoughts of su***de and safely guide them to help.

Huge thank you to for coming out to Northam yesterday and making it such a truly enriching experience.

What a lovely day to be celebrating 50 Years of Deadly!

The NAIDOC Unity Woola Woola (celebration) is a very special event held here in Northam to celebrate NAIDOC week and our world’s longest continuing living culture and people. Well done to our own Adrian Hardy and his partner Duanna who were recently crowned Mr. and Miss NAIDOC for their contributions to their local communities. Both Adrian and Duanna spoke today about what NAIDOC means to them and their journeys and life experiences that guided them as youth to leaders now in the community.

Huge shout out to Northam Senior High School for putting on such a great event for the students of the area - ranging from Northam to Goomalling and Cunderdin.

some snippets from last weeks trip over to Brisbane for the 2025 headspace Forum.

We spent three days listening to and learning from headspace staff, young people and the wider headspace community. We also had the opportunity to showcase two very important projects to us out here at headspace northam; our youth on country excursions and the annual youth week celebration.

This morning, for Reconciliation Week, we gathered our staff, Elders and community together to share stories and reflect over kangaroo stew and damper cooked by the incredible Sharon Hardy (Adrian's Aunty), who travelled from Albany for the occasion.

Here at headspace Northam, we're guided by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and Elders we're proud to work alongside, and we remain committed to walking this path together.

Last night, our Youth Reference Group heard from Adrian, headspace Northam's Aboriginal Youth Support Worker, on his journey and his dedication to supporting the next generation of young people. As we walk this path together, it is important for us all to reflect on Australia's history and purposefully lead the way in forging stronger relationships, deeper understanding, and a future grounded in respect, truth-telling and connection.

This Reconciliation Week, we would like to welcome our local Elders for a morning of reflection, remembrance and connection. As we host this event on the 28th of May, 59 years since the 1967 referendum, we come together to honour the strength, resilience and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to reflect on the journey of reconciliation.

Morning tea and refreshments will be provided.

If transport is needed to attend, please don't hesitate to reach out and one of our friendly staff will transport you there.

Wow, what a day! This year's Youth Week was centred around the theme 'strength in our stories.' This can mean many things for many different people. For us it is about the strength of every young person to show up for themselves each and every day, it is the way they are resilient through hardship, their creativity and passion and the courage they carry as they shape their own paths. It is found in the way they support one another, share their voices, and continue to dream big despite any challenges they may face. This Youth Festival was a celebration of those stories, those strengths, and the incredible young people who inspire our community every single day.
