Australian Sailing is mourning Ian "Bunny" Warren who passed away peacefully last night surrounded by family.

Known to so many for his kind heart and deep love of the sport, Bunny mentored generations of sailors and worked to make sailing more accessible for all with a particular passion for Youth and Development sailing.

"Bunny, our friend, gone too soon," said long-time friend Chris Jackson. "Sail on my friend, in calm seas and fair winds, watch over us mate. For over four decades you were a coach to so many around the world, my thoughts are with Thalia and all his family and friends."

Bunny coached the Australian 49er team of Chris Nicholson and Gary Boyd to seventh place at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and went on to develop many future Olympians through his role as Head Coach of Sailing at the Victorian Institute of Sport.

Our condolences go out to Bunny's many close friends and family, you will be missed.

Nine Discover Sailing Centres around the country have been announced as the successful Whitworths Tackers Boat Program recipients for 2026, giving them access to refresh their Tackers fleet at a discount of over 50%, thanks to Whitworths and OziOpti 🙌⛵️

By reducing the cost of acquiring Tackers fleets, the initiative enables more DSCs to introduce children to sailing and build strong participation pathways within their communities.

Para Seated Wing Camp ⛵️👏🏼

Last month Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club hosted the 3rd Para Seated Wing Camp in partnership with Australian Sailing.

Participants had the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and experience the excitement of wing foiling under the guidance of renowned Paralympic and World Sailing IDP coach Grant Alderson.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, as well as the coaches, volunteers and organisers who helped make the camp such a success.
