What a massive day of wheelchair basketball for the Central Coast Waves at the Waratah League Finals Saturday May 23..

​Semi-Final:
We started the day strong with a fantastic team performance against Blacktown Storm, taking the win 34 to 8 to secure our spot in the big finals.

​Grand Final:
The Grand Final against the Illawarra Hawks was an absolute thriller. It was a tough, physical battle right down to the final buzzer, with Illawarra just edging us out 27 to 24.

​While it is tough to miss out by just three points, we are incredibly proud of the determination, growth, and sportsmanship our team has shown all season. Finishing as runners-up in a tournament this competitive is a massive achievement.

​Thank you to all our supporters, families, and the Illawarra Hawks for an incredible weekend of basketball. We will be back bigger and stronger next season! 🌊🏀

DIVISION 2 LEADING SCORERS! 🌊🏀

​A massive shoutout to Tani Vollmer, who has locked in the number 2 spot on the GTK Waratah Wheelchair League leading scorers leaderboard with an incredible 10.8 points per game! 💥🔥

​Tani only joined the Central Coast Waves this year, and she has already made an absolute splash on the court. We are so incredibly proud of the determination and teamwork she brings to every single match. Behind every great scorer is a team working hard to create those opportunities, and the Waves spirit is shining bright!

​The team is heading down to Wollongong this Saturday 23rd May for the Waratah League semi-finals! We are taking on Blacktown Storm at The Snakepit to fight for a spot in the Grand Final.

MEET THE WAVES: MIKAYLA 🌊🏀

​We are so proud to highlight the journey of one of our long-standing members and Waratah League players, Mikayla.

​Mikayla joined us several years ago, and while she started her journey with very little confidence, her transformation since then has been nothing short of inspiring.

​Her dedication to the game is second to none. Not only is she a regular at our Friday night sessions at Niagara Park Stadium and our league match days, but she has also been travelling to Sydney every Saturday to train and participate with the Sydney Uni Lions.

​Mikayla has also successfully completed the Basketball NSW SPP programme, showing a real commitment to pushing her skills to the next level. Whether she is focused on the court or sharing a laugh with her teammates, her growth in confidence is clear to everyone.

​It is a privilege to have you as such a vital part of the team, Mikayla. We love seeing how far you have come!

That's a wrap on round 4! 🏀🌊

What a fantastic Saturday of Basketball on our home court at Niagara Park!

The team played brilliantly yesterday:
Waves 35 def. Blacktown Storm 14
Waves 30 def. Newcastle Falcons 4

Finishing this season with 7 wins and 2 loses is a massive achievement. It is a true credit to the teamwork and hard work everyone has put in. Everyone gave it their all, and it really showed out on the court.

Well done team.
