SAFE Newman Our Future is SAFE Our Pets
Our pets are rehomed, either locally, in Perth or elsewhere in WA.

Our Team
The people who volunteer for SAFE and provide Foster Care in their homes, do it for the love of animals, and the view that we can make a difference to our society and the lives of our animals. As we have great deal with freight, it can be cheaper to adopt a pet from SAFE that has been vaccinated, vet checked, wormed and desexed (from six months of age) than to buy a puppy or kitten from a pet shop. S M O K E Y - For Adoption through SAFE Newman

Well, isn't he a handsome little chap? Those ears, beautiful markings and an expression that suggests he's already mastered the art of looking terribly innocent.
Unlike his recently adopted sisters, this gorgeous boy from SAFE Newman is still waiting for someone to call his own.
Surely there's a loving home somewhere just waiting for him? He's already got the good looks and charm sorted. All he needs now is someone to appreciate them.
If you think you could offer him a loving home, please get in touch with SAFE Newman.

🌏💙 Celebrating World Animal Day 💙🌏

Furry, feathered, scaled or finned, animals make our world richer simply by being part of it.

World Animal Day is an opportunity to celebrate them all and remember that every animal deserves kindness, care and respect. 🐾🐦🐢🐠

At SAFE, our work focuses on rescuing cats and dogs, but our compassion reaches much further. From the companions sharing our homes to the wildlife sharing our planet, we can all play a part in making their lives better.

That might mean fostering, adopting, protecting wildlife habitats or teaching children to treat animals gently. Every caring action counts.

💬 Which animal holds a special place in your heart? Share a photo or tell us about them below!

Act with kindness. Belong to a caring community. Commit to making a difference. 💙

💙 SPONSOR THEIR NEXT CHAPTER 🐾

You might not have room for another pet, or be able to foster, but you could still be part of their rescue story.

We’re exploring a new idea at SAFE and would love to hear what you think.

What if you could sponsor part or all of a cat or dog’s adoption fee, helping them take their next step into a loving home?

For some people, the upfront adoption fee can be a hurdle, even when they can provide a suitable home and cover ongoing food, veterinary care and other needs.

Here’s how it could work:

🐾 We introduce a cat or dog in foster care with a loving family, sharing their personality and the home they need.

💙 Supporters contribute towards that animal’s adoption fee. Smaller contributions can add up, or someone could sponsor the whole fee.

🏡 The sponsorship reduces the amount their approved adopter pays. Our usual adoption application and matching process still applies, including consideration of the animal’s ongoing care needs.

📖 When they’re adopted, we celebrate their next chapter and introduce another animal. Any unused or excess sponsorship carries forward to help the next cat or dog.

You wouldn’t be adopting the animal yourself, but you would be helping make their adoption possible.

This is an idea we’re considering, so we’re inviting feedback before launching.

Would you consider sponsoring part of an animal’s adoption fee? Tell us what you think below. 💬

Even if you couldn’t contribute, sharing this post could help us reach someone who can.

🐾 COULD YOU FOSTER? YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED. 🐾

“I’d get too attached.”

“I work full-time.”

“I already have pets.”

“I’ve never fostered before.”

“I couldn’t commit for months.”

We hear all of these. And none of them automatically mean you can’t foster. 💙

SAFE doesn’t have a shelter.

We are a foster-based rescue, which means the animals we save live in ordinary homes with local people while they wait to be adopted.

No foster home = no place for that animal to go.

That’s why foster carers are such an important part of SAFE.

💙 SO, WHAT DOES FOSTERING ACTUALLY INVOLVE?

You provide a safe, caring home and treat your foster animal as part of the family while they are with you.

SAFE covers all approved veterinary care, and we can help with food and other supplies when required. We can also provide essentials such as leads, collars, bowls and beds.

You provide the most important bit: the home, care, patience and love.💙

🐶 “BUT I WORK...”

So do many of our foster carers!

We try to match animals to households where their needs can realistically be met. You don't need to be home 24/7 to make a difference.

🐱 “I ALREADY HAVE PETS...”

That doesn't necessarily rule you out either.

Tell us about your household, your pets and what you can manage, and we can look at animals who may be suitable.

❤️ “I'LL GET TOO ATTACHED...”

You probably will get attached. That's because you care.

Saying goodbye can be hard, but watching an animal leave for their new home means you've made room to potentially help another.

And yes, sometimes foster carers decide they want to adopt. We know it happens! 😄

⏰ “I CAN'T MAKE A HUGE COMMITMENT...”

Fostering isn't a lifetime commitment.

Talk to us.

Whether you can help short-term, longer-term, with a particular type of animal or only at certain times, we're open to different options and will try to make fostering work for you.

🏡 “I'VE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE...”

That's okay. Everyone has to start somewhere.

You don't need rescue experience. You need to be willing to provide a safe home, follow SAFE's guidance, communicate with us and care for the animal entrusted to you.

And fostering isn't just about giving an animal somewhere to sleep.

Because our animals live with foster families, we get to know them.

We learn their personalities, their quirks, what they enjoy, what they struggle with and what kind of home may suit them.

That knowledge helps us make better adoption matches.

✨ YOU DON'T HAVE TO FOSTER EVERY ANIMAL.

You don't have to do it all year.

You don't have to know everything before you start.

You just need to be willing to help one animal when you can.

And that one foster placement could completely change that animal's future.

🐾 READY TO GIVE FOSTERING A GO?

Send SAFE a message or complete a Foster Carer Application.

Have questions first? Ask us. There is no silly question and completing an application doesn't mean an animal is arriving at your house tomorrow!

💙 Open your home. Join our foster community. Help us keep saying YES to animals who need SAFE.

🥾 SEVEN MONTHS IN CARE. IS PERTH WHERE PUSS IN BOOTS’ NEXT CHAPTER BEGINS? 🥾

Our dashing Puss in Boots has been waiting more than seven months for someone to choose him. He is now located in Perth, and we would love to see this move lead him straight to an adoptive home.

Puss in Boots arrived in care alongside Princess Fiona and has grown into a playful, curious and confident young cat. He loves exploring, chasing toys and strutting around as though he really is wearing his famous boots. Once the adventure is over, he is happy to settle in for a cuddle and a well-earned nap.

Because Puss has been living in foster care with a loving family, we have had the chance to learn about his personality and needs. He understands home life and is ready to bring plenty of fun, affection and character to his new family.

We do not have a shelter you can visit, but adopting through SAFE is easy. Simply submit an application and we can arrange a meet and greet with Puss in Boots in Perth.

After more than seven months in care, surely it is time for this handsome hero to be chosen. Please share his story and help us find the person who has been waiting for him too. 💙

**EDIT - all now adopted! **. Meet the “Newman 9” and one devoted mum. All for adoption with SAFE Newman
Abandoned in a house in Newman, these six-week-old puppies and their mum survived thanks to a tradesman who entered the property, discovered them and immediately contacted SAFE Newman. All pups, including their mum are absolutely delightful. A breeze to photograph. Their beautiful mother has done an excellent job and she is equally deserving of a loving home. She has the temperament of an Angel. Her babies, as you can see are beautiful beyond any words I can find.
Their rescue is a powerful reminder: one caring person can change everything.
Please share their story and support SAFE Newman as they give this beautiful family the fresh start they deserve.
