We have just received a donation from EasyRead Time Teacher of 130 wall clocks. These come with a simple 3 step, fun and rewarding way to learn to tell the time on analogue clocks.. Thanks to Roger Shackleton from EasyRead Time Teacher, who drove up from Sydney this morning to bring us the clocks. We will be giving these clocks to schools and preschools when we start visits again next year.

Bill went down to Erina Rotary on Tuesday night. They have been greater supporters of Books4Outback for many years, donating 1000s of books over the years. Bill gave those present a talk on what we do, where we take books to, and how we try to help and inspire students in isolated and disadvantaged communities in the "bush". As well as donating 9 boxes of books, Erina Rotary decided to make a grant of $5000 to Books4Outback to allow us to continue our good work. A big thank you to those at Erina Rotary. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

It is interesting now to reflect on another successful trip. During our 5 days on the road Neil and Roger travelled over 1650km. Books were taken to Public Schools in Toomelah, Yetman, North Star, Pallamallawa, Gravesend, Gum Flat, Gilgai and Tingha; Central Schools in Bingara, Bundarra and Barraba; plus Catholic Primary Schools in Barraba (St Joseph's) and Manilla (St Michael's). As well as books most schools received jigsaw puzzles showing indigenous designs or maps of Australia, purchased from our Newcastle Permanent grant. We also took books and toys to Tingha Preschool and Kiah Preschool in Moree, plus dropped some unused equipment at the Toomelah Aboriginal Health Service.

Neil and Roger are back in the Northwest, having driven from Newcastle to Moree yesterday. Today we visited schools at Toomelah, Yetman, North Star and Pallamallawa. Toomelah Public School was very grateful to receive the first of the pencil cases that resulted from the funds donated by the Newcastle Permanent. These will be given to students at the start of next year. Upon our return to Moree we also took books and toys to the Kiah Preschool.

We are pleased to say that today we received the promised $1000 grant from the Newcastle Permanent. I met Danielle Meyrick this morning at Officeworks, where on behalf of the Newcastle Permanent she paid for just over $1000 of school requisites (two-thirds of which are in the attached photo, with the rest on order). Soon we will be making up pencil cases to take to needy students in rural areas. Thanks to Archie from Officeworks for his assistance in putting the order together this morning.

Neil and Roger are finally back in Newcastle, having travelled over 2000km since Sunday morning. During the week we visited 9 schools, 3 preschools and Wilcannia LALC. We were made to feel very welcome at all of these, and thoroughly enjoyed our time in outback NSW. On our way home today we called in at Ballimore Public School.

A wonderful spot to stay last night, Warrawong on the Darling - thank you Lyn and Matt for your hospitality and we really appreciated the reduced rate. Enjoy the photo of the billabong from our balcony at the "penthouse". Today we dropped books at Hermidale and Nyngan Public Schools.

Having driven to Narromine yesterday, Neil and Roger started their day in Trangie, giving books and speaking to students at St John's and the Central School. At both schools Neil encountered ex-students from his teaching days at Trangie Central School in the 1980s. After Trangie books were dropped at Warren Central School before driving through to Cobar. Books and toys were taken to Cobar Preschool and Cobar Early Learning centre. Today we have seen hundreds of feral goats, 30 to 40 emus but only 5 kangaroos.
