This is what happened when ten young people spent time learning, working, and slowing down in nature over 8 months with ReGen Alliance 💚

These numbers come from pre- and post-program surveys, alongside feedback from the students and their educators who walked alongside them throughout the program.

This is why we keep at it, why we keep showing up. Because just turning up, every session, it doesn't feel like much, and it just looks like a bunch of humans connecting and having a great time, but the impacts are huge for our young people and the environment.

We are excited to continue creating space for young people to reconnect with nature, care for their local environments, and find a sense of belonging along the way.

We are working hard to secure funding, find sponsors and get our program underway for 2026!

💚 GREENING NEWCASTLE PROJECT 💚

What an awesome project to end 2025 with!!

ReGen Alliance wanted to get native plants into the places young people spend their days, so they could learn about their environment by actually working with it, not just hearing about it (less talking, more doing!!)

So we teamed up with City of Newcastle and offered high schools free native plants to use in their own projects 🌳 Eight schools jumped in. Students helped design garden spaces, planted out natives, and learned why these species matter for local wildlife and climate resilience 🤓

It’s a small project 🤏 with big ripple effects 🌎including healthier school grounds, hands-on environmental learning, and a chance for young people to feel proud of something they’ve created.

👏 Thank you to .au for supporting this idea, to the schools for embracing it, to the students who put the plants in the ground, and to the amazing humans who helped deliver all 650 plants across the city!

Today ReGen Alliance lodged a submission to the Senate on the Environment Protection Reform Bill 2025. Our message was simple: the landscapes our young people depend on deserve stronger protection.

Our submission draws on real experience from years of bush regeneration, biodiversity work and youth environmental programs across the Hunter Region. We highlighted case studies of koala habitat loss, greater glider decline and the ongoing impact of clearing in already fragile landscapes.

This inquiry is reviewing how environmental decisions are made in Australia, and whether the proposed new laws will genuinely protect ecosystems, threatened species and community wellbeing.

If you’d like to learn more or make your own submission, you can do that with the link we have provided in the comments.

We’re grateful for the chance to speak up for nature and future generations. Our youth program for 2025 has wrapped up, but our commitment to advocating for healthier, safer environments continues.

🐢💚 It’s Turtle Month!

ReGen Alliance is proud to support the 1 Million Turtles Community Conservation Program this November.

November is peak nesting season, when female turtles leave the water to lay their eggs..... and face their biggest threats from foxes, roads, habitat loss and pollution.

That’s why the 1 Million Turtles team, alongside researchers from La Trobe University, Western Sydney University and the University of New England, rely on everyday people to become citizen scientists.

No experience needed — just your eyes 👀 your phone 📱 and a bit of curiosity 🤔.

By logging sightings, reporting fox activity and learning how to protect nests, you’re giving researchers the data they need to keep turtles safe.

Thanks to citizen scientists, hundreds of nests have already been protected and thousands of hatchlings saved. And November is when your actions matter most.

🌱 Youth Greening Newcastle — Free Native Plants for Local High Schools! 🌱

ReGen Alliance is inviting high schools (or schools with youth-aged students) located within the Newcastle LGA to take part in our Youth Greening Newcastle program — proudly supported through a local council grant.

We have around 700 native plants and trees ready to be donated, and we’re looking for schools where students can be directly involved in planting and caring for them.

Getting native plants into school grounds helps:

🌿 Boost biodiversity by restoring habitat for native birds, pollinators, and insects — strengthening local ecosystems.

🌿 Improve soil health, water retention, and carbon capture, making our suburbs cooler and more resilient to climate impacts.

🌿 Contribute to Newcastle’s environmental goals for a greener, healthier city.

If your school (or your child’s school) would like to receive plants or take part in this initiative, please get in touch with us here or via [email protected].

Let’s help young people lead the way in greening Newcastle — one native plant at a time. 🌾

🌿 We’re becoming a Not-for-profit! Exciting!!!!

ReGen Alliance connects young people with nature through hands-on bush regeneration and environmental learning.

As we take this next step, we’re inviting local businesses to join us as Founding Sponsors for 2026.

Your sponsorship means more than a logo — it’s real action:

• Staff volunteering at Landcare restoration days (including sites like Nobbys Beach)
• Your signage featured at visible community sites
• Recognition across ReGen’s social media, events, and media features

Together we’ll keep growing local biodiversity, youth wellbeing, and community connection.
