The Bermi crew is fresh off a great weekend at the SLSNSW State Conference in Sydney. It was a weekend of learning, networking and sharing ideas and every club from Far South Coast was represented along with almost all of the 129 clubs across NSW.

These opportunities are a fantastic source of ideas and energy and we’re already looking forward to the season ahead. Not long now!!!

Last night was the Far South Coast Branch Annual Awards of Excellence hosted by Moruya Surf Life Saving Club and Bermagui SLSC was thrilled to take out two special team awards.

Services Team of the Year was won by our Nippers Team. We do Nippers a bit differently in Bermagui and it was great for our awesome Nippers leadership team to see their approach recognised. The move to Saturday Nippers has been a ripper and the focus on building resilience through activities designed to push kids out of their comfort zone in a safe, supported environment has been a blast for the kids, parents and water safety team alike.

Bermagui also won the David Pheeney Patrol Efficiency for lifesaving club of the year. This award is focused on the heart of what we do - lifesaving - including patrols, emergency call outs and more.

Congrats to all of the nominees and winners from every club. It’s always humbling to be in a room full of such committed and inspiring people who give so much time, energy and skill to their communities.

It was a big night for such a small club and we’re so grateful to each and every one of our members and also to the community and visitors who support us. We’re proud of the whole team … Go Bermi!!!

Last night we celebrated together with our Nippers and Seniors sharing each other’s achievements at our Annual Presentation Night.

Many thanks to every single nipper, volunteer, families of volunteers, patrollers, committee members, sponsors who make every season better than the last!

Our thoughts are with our colleagues at Marine Rescue Bermagui and all Marine Rescue NSW personnel following the devastating loss of two Marine Rescue Ballina volunteers overnight during an emergency response.

Emergency responders give their time willingly and often in very tough conditions. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of all involved.

We know this loss will be felt deeply by all of the MRNSW team across the state and all other emergency service organisations. We work closely with Marine Rescue crews and our respect and gratitude goes out to all of those who put themselves in harm’s way to help others ❤️

That’s a wrap on another season at Bermagui Surf Club. 2025-2026 was a busy year with lots of visitors to the beach and a tonne of fun and laughs along the way. Thanks to everyone who came down to visit and a special shout out to our amazing team of patrollers who volunteer their time to keep everyone safe.

The flags might be down but our emergency call out team is still here 7 days a week to help if needed.

We are hosting an Advanced IRB Skills Development Program at Moruya SLSC on the 9th and 10th of May 2026.

The Advanced IRB Skills Development Program is open to financial & proficient members of any club who hold an IRB Crew and/or Silver Medallion IRB Driver Award. This course is being run by Surf Life Saving NSW. The Program aims to enhance the skills and experiences of surf lifesavers in powercraft operations through collaborative and consistent training, utilizing a mix of drill-based activities, dedicated coaching, and scenario-based training. Training may include swimming & mounting rock shelves depending on location.

This is an official registration form for a two-day program; you will need to attend both days with day two finishing approx. 1pm.

Please also check in with your own club that you’re attending, as we may need to borrow extra IRB’s or radios per boat depending on the number of registrants we have to ensure the course runs efficiently as we know people are volunteering their time.
