Happy 11th Birthday Austin! 🐾🎂
11 laps around the sun for this gorgeous dingo ☀️

They say age is just a number, and Austin is living proof—he still parties like a three-year-old! 🤪

Dingoes can live happily for up to 20 years in captivity.

Excited to share that I’ve been selected as one of 15 founders pitching at the Pitch Showcase on Thursday 28 May 🚀

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been part of the Founder Pitch Capability Program with Smart Precinct NQ and Aaron Birkby from Tribe Global Ventures - refining my pitch, sharpening my message and preparing to share a new project Wildlife Surrounds is building for the North Queensland community.

The showcase is about far more than pitching. It’s about connection, feedback, ideas and opportunities - bringing together founders, industry, investors, government, research and the wider business community to support innovation across our region.

I’d love to see some familiar faces in the room on the night 👏

Working with students from The Ohio State University 'Human Impacts on the Natural Environment' program for the first time 🐨🌿

We spent the day together on Yunbenun - Magnetic Island, contributing to koala population surveys at the GRaB Eco Hub and learning firsthand about wildlife monitoring in practice.

A cracking day of science, learning, and meaningful conservation conversations. They were especially lucky to spot both a koala and an echidna in the same location—always a special moment.

🌿 Earth Day, today and every day.

Out here, sustainability isn’t something we switch on for a moment — it’s part of how we try to live and work, every day.

🔆 Off-grid, powered by solar
💧Water sourced from rainwater tanks and a bore, used mindfully
🍃 Composting, recycling, and minimising waste
🚜 Treading lightly on the land that wildlife calls home

We’re also working towards Sustainable Tourism accreditation through Ecotourism Australia and Queensland Tourism Industry Council - QTIC — a step that helps keep us accountable.

→ Always learning. Always improving — for the Earth.

Appreciating opportunities that spark meaningful dialogue 🌏💚
Recorded for our founder Shakira Todd joined Kim Kleidon on her podcast What We Teach Our Children—a space dedicated to asking better questions of ourselves, our communities, and the legacy we leave behind.

This conversation explores responsibility, coexistence, and the future we’re shaping—especially in how we interact with wildlife and the natural environment 🌿

Happy Easter everyone 🐣🌿

Frozen meat & kale treats were on the dingoes’ menu today — and they were a hit! 🐾❄️

Watching their different personalities never gets old — from a careful nibbler to straight-up zoomy chaos 😅

Itss great reminder of how important enrichment is for our resident wildlife — keeping them engaged, stimulated, and expressing natural behaviours.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Easter and enjoying a few treats of your own too 💛

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming Michelle and Simon from Australian Nature Guides — along with their two kelpies Maddie 'Mad Dog' and Rufus 'The Do**us,' who were right at home 🐾🥰

With more than twenty years guiding guests through the landscapes and wildlife of Carnarvon Gorge, they bring deep local knowledge and genuine care for nature.

After first connecting with Michelle through Savannah Guides field schools in her President role, it was wonderful to show her Wildlife Surrounds' patch of paradise. We explored opportunities to strengthen our eco-tourism goals across the region - whilst maintaining a strong focus on public education and science-based nature connection. Conversation also turned to Simon’s PhD research on biodiversity patterns in the Gorge using automated acoustic recorders.

Can’t wait to visit you at Carnarvon Gorge soon.

You can book a tour with Australian Nature Guides for an experience led by legends, who truly care about the landscapes they work in:
