PH CONSULATE DEEPENS PARTNERSHIP WITH FILIPINO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN NSW
SYDNEY, 10 June 2026 - The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney convened a Town Hall Meeting with leaders and representatives of Filipino community organizations across New South Wales, providing an opportunity for the community to engage with newly arrived Philippine Consul General Greg Marie C. Mariño.
The meeting brought together representatives from various Filipino organizations to discuss community priorities, strengthen collaboration with the Consulate, and reaffirm the shared commitment to advancing the welfare of Filipinos in New South Wales while promoting Philippine culture and heritage in Australia.
In her remarks, Consul General Mariño acknowledged the longstanding contributions of Filipino community organizations and their role in strengthening people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Australia.
“Your dedication and service to our kababayan throughout the decades is truly commendable. Your efforts strengthen the Filipino community in New South Wales, and even beyond that, the broader social, cultural, and economic fabric of Australia,” she said.
The Consul General also highlighted the important role of Filipino organizations in fostering community engagement, cultural diplomacy, and public service, noting that their initiatives help deepen connections between the Philippines and Australia.
The Town Hall Meeting forms part of the Consulate’s continuing engagement with the Filipino community as it marks the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and joins the Philippines and Australia in commemorating 80 years of diplomatic relations in 2026. END
