HAVE YOUR SAY – Mount Pleasant needs a Southern Footpath
The Barossa Council Annual Business Plan & Budget is currently open for public consultation and now is the time for our community to speak up.
The Mount Pleasant Progress Association has previously raised concerns with Council regarding the lack of a footpath at the southern end of Melrose Street connecting to the existing pathway near the northern entrance to Talunga Park, however we have not yet seen progress on this important community safety issue.
Talunga Park is one of Mount Pleasant’s major community assets, regularly used by:
⚽ sporting clubs
🚐 caravan park visitors
🛍 Farmers Market patrons
🎪 Mount Pleasant Show attendees
👨👩👧👦 local families
🚌 visiting groups and tourists
Despite Talunga Park being identified for possible expenditure of $325,000, there is currently no mention of supporting pedestrian infrastructure.
People are often forced to walk in mud or along a busy road to access the park safely. Many children who catch school buses must navigate sections without adequate pedestrian infrastructure, creating safety concerns for families and the broader community.
A safe footpath connection would benefit the many people who access Talunga Park throughout the year, including visitors attending major community events such as the Mount Pleasant Show and the Farmers Market.
We are asking the community to please take a few minutes to complete the Council survey and help put a voice to this important community cause.
