Please take the time to have a look at this XFOBB
After years of delays, the Federal Government has approved a massive wind farm on Robbins Island, Lutruwita/Tasmania. While investing in renewables is vital, this project threatens one of the rarest birds on Earth – the Orange-bellied Parrot (OBP), with fewer than 200 left in the wild – and jeopardises critical habitat for migratory shorebirds.
We shouldn’t have to choose between tackling climate change and protecting wildlife. We can, and must, do both.
This decision is at odds with decades of work to save the OBP (including by our BirdLife team in the field 🪶). It’s also a stark reminder of why Australia desperately needs stronger nature laws.
