🚨 Calling all cooks! 🚨

The Yarra Valley Winter Shelter opened last night but we're still 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 during the season.

You don't need to commit to every week. Whether you can help once, a few times, or regularly, we'd love to hear from you.

A warm meal is often one of the first ways our guests experience welcome, dignity, and community. It's a simple but incredibly important part of what we do.

As we prepare to begin another Yarra Valley Winter Shelter season, we’ll be gathering to pray for, encourage and commission the many volunteers who will serve across the winter months.

Great to spend time with our friends at Gympie Winter Shelter last week!

One of the greatest joys of the Winter Shelter Network is the relationships that develop between shelters across the country. We love learning from one another, sharing ideas, encouraging each other, and being reminded that we're part of something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you to the Gympie team for your hospitality and for the opportunity to spend time together. We are excited to see all that God does through your shelter this season.

As shelters begin opening their doors on Monday, we're praying for Gympie and all of our Winter Shelter Network Affiliates as they welcome guests, and create spaces of warmth, dignity and belonging in their communities.

A common question we receive is how potential guests access the Yarra Valley Winter Shelter.

The shelter works in partnership with Anchor Community Care, who support referrals into the program. This helps ensure the shelter is a safe and appropriate option for each guest, while also connecting people with other supports that may be helpful to them.

We’re very grateful for the care, professionalism and empathy that the Anchor team brings to this work.

Each winter, volunteers from churches and communities across our region come together to offer warmth, welcome and care to people experiencing homelessness. This service is an opportunity to pray for, encourage and commission those preparing to serve over the coming months.

Exciting news! 🛏️

This winter, Montrose Church of Christ will officially be partnering with Stable One's Yarra Valley Winter Shelter – opening our doors one night each week as both a shelter venue and hosting church.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to join with churches across the Yarra Valley in offering warmth, welcome and practical support to people experiencing homelessness during the colder months.

This is a meaningful step for our church community, and we’re looking forward to serving alongside many wonderful volunteers and partner churches throughout the season.
