An extra‑special day today catering for the Legacy Widows, as it coincided with Vietnam Veterans Day and the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. We welcomed around 45 guests, including 18 Vietnam veterans, for our Legacy morning tea. It is always a privilege to cater for the Legacy ladies, and it was wonderful to also serve morning tea to our veterans on such a significant day.

Pictured are Members Helen Ayscough and Diane Burton with Mr Graham Boyd, CEO of Legacy Australia (Sydney), and Dr Mark Lax, Retired Air Commodore and Chairman of Legacy Australia (Canberra).

Both gentlemen spoke very warmly about the work of the CWA, saying that every time they have been involved with us they have met dedicated, hardworking women who give so much to their communities.

They also congratulated us on the morning teas we provide for the Legacy widows, describing it as a truly caring contribution that is deeply appreciated.

Another wonderful day catering for our 2nd Christmas 🎄 in July lunch. Thank you to all that came and our local suppliers and Farmers that we get such great produce from.

We spent a wonderful afternoon on Tuesday preparing and serving scones with jam and cream to the guests and volunteers of the MUNCH program in Maitland, which offers essential meals and social interaction to community members that need some assistance. They were grateful and enjoyed them. We also donated some bags of scarves, beanies and blankets.

It was a pleasure to host a Soup & Damper lunch for our Local Probus Club Members this week. They enjoyed 4 different soups, christmas pudding and rhubarb and apple crumble as well as a little bit of shopping from our trading table.

Today we were fortunate to have one our members, Tracey, give a presentation to the branch and guests on her recent travels to the WWI Australian Battlefields of France and Belgium, which also included attendance at ANZAC Day Service at Villers-Bretonneux in France. It was a very interesting presentation but also very emotional to hear the stories. Lest we forget.

A big thank you to Abbey from Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation who was a guest speaker at our meeting this morning. Thank you for talking to us about the wonderful work done by a small group to coordinate transport to appoints, household services and support group ( and more) to those going through breast cancer. Their work is all funded through donations, they service all the Hunter Valley and they need more volunteers if anyone is looking for a group to support.
