Thrive Madagascar

Thrive Madagascar Provide Education ~ Provide Opportunity HISTORY

Thrive Madagascar (aka CSM) started when a young man had a vision in India in the year 2002.

Before the trip to India this young man was asked himself “why are you going there? There are already so many people helping the Indians. YOU don't need to go!” The young man said “I'm just going to play cricket!”

As soon as he hopped off a train in India, there were small children in dirty rags, people with horrid deformities, mothers with their babies and many needy begging for him to give them

something. He wondered where the people who were meant to be helping them were. At that moment, the young man was overwhelmed and knew in his heart he had to do something. During that trip and over the next few years of overseas trips he continued to have this vision to build centres to feed the poor. Feeding them is just the start -- Chosen Servant Ministries is also about teaching those in need how to feed themselves. After a trip to Madagascar early in 2008 this young man sat down with some highly respected people and told them about his vision. These people said “Brendan, we believe in this vision and trust God with you to bring it to pass.” And so, after discussions they provided him with a good accountant, and paid for all the fees to set up the ministry. And so, Chosen Servant Ministries was started.

These past few weeks, we concreted the pathway to TLC (The Living Centre) while covering the exposed water pipes and creating a cleaner environment for the locals.

The work never stops here, all thanks to our staff and supporters!

We just finished the outdoor toilets and bathroom the Fowler boys started in February, at The Living Center.

This is very much needed as most people in this area do not have access to these very basic utilities. Most people in this neighbourhood shower in a bucket in their own house or pay a quarter of their daily wage to access a public bathroom.

The first people benefiting from this are the people we support (people with disabilities and single mothers and their children), but it is free to use for anyone in need!

Slowly, our ability to support this community grows and it’s all because of the amazing supporters we have.

Thank you for your continued support.
God is great 🙏🏽🚿💦🚽🚻

After the cyclone Gezani hit the east of Madagascar hard about two months ago, many are still left homeless and jobless.

Miary and her little family was one of them. Their home was completely gone. They had to return to their grandmothers village, in the mountains with absolutely nothing.

She however, on her first week back to her grandma’s village, decided to attend our Sunday worship with the biggest smile on her face, you would have never guessed what she was going through…

Thankfully, with the assistance of our friends/supporters, we were able to assist Miary to start all over again by providing all the supplies she needed to open a grocery store.

It’s been a week since it opened but it’s already doing so well.

Thank you for your continued support ❤️

This is Fabrice. He is part of our Thrive Disability Support Group (TDSG) in the village of Ambohidanerana.

A few months after we started this group back in 2018, Fabrice’s brother approached one of our staff and said: “I am so grateful for this group you started. My brother doesn’t know the days of the week but I tell you what, he always knows when it’s Saturday because he can’t wait to attend your meetings!” 🥹💙

Today, Fabrice joined his group together, with Thrive Youth Group to plant bananas in the public primary school of Ambohidanerana to fight malnutrition in this region 🍌🌴❤️.

Thank you for your continued support!

After the Fowler boys left us a week ago, Theresa and Jasmine arrived !

The boys were focusing on the work while the ladies have been focusing on the people. All things working together for good ❤️.

Theresa and Jasmine’s time in Madagascar has been filled with generosity. They have organised parties after parties for the people we work with and the people we support.

They have donated 65 period kits for the girls for international women’s day, 30 blankets for women over sixty and mothers with new born babies, 40 umbrellas, 5kgs of rice to 60 families, lots of soap, clothing, toys and lollies for the kids.

They have also organised parties for the youth and the people living with disabilities as well as taking Thrive’s hardworking staff out for a meal!

We are feeling the love and are forever praising God for it 🙏🏾❤️👏

The crew is working hard! We are so grateful for all the work being done. Tim is battling through sickness and setting up the sewerage drainage for our community centre. He is also building a covered outdoor kitchen area for us! We have been collecting volcanic rocks and sand for the pit. We have bought some wood to make some tables and chairs for the local school as they have a massive shortage and are very overcrowded currently. We tried to put one of our children into the school last week and they said they couldn’t receive them as they didn’t have enough tables and chairs. Josiah and Elijiah have been teaching English and songs in the evenings.
In the coming days we will work on waterproofing the community centre roof and renovating a house near our farm that we recently purchased for one of our disability support group members to live in and watch over the farm. Thank you for supporting us! thrivemadagascar.org.au

It’s been a week now since the Fowler boys landed in Madagascar!

Tim and his boys, Josiah and Elijah, from Port Macquarie Australia, accomplished a lot during these short few days despite the jet lag and the scary cyclone passing through the Island!

They built 4 chairs and 2 shelves while also waterproofing the leaky roof at The Living Center and starting the plumbing work for our outdoor showers at the TLC.

They will be heading to the country this weekend for more carpentry and construction work for Thrives projects.

Please pray for health, protection, productivity and joy for the team!

Thank you for your continued support!

Hi everyone,

A huge cyclone passed through the Island of Madagascar on Wednesday night, leaving many people helpless and homeless.

The city most ravaged by the cyclone is currently only accessible by plane. Today, the local people are gathering donations to send there in the next 24hours.

We are going to redirect our emergency budget towards this cause as we do not have time to do a fundraiser.

Help us if you can. Thank you 🙏🏽❤️🇲🇬

The first time I (Diary) heard of Australian people was at a restaurant amongst a few foreigners of different nationalities. They were speaking of a young Australian man (Brendan) doing some charity in the Itasy region. I hadn’t met Brendan yet at this stage.

One of the foreigners said: there is this young foreign guy doing some charity work not far from here!
And another one asked: where is he from?
The other answered: Australia!
And they all laughed together and said: of course!

That was the first time I heard of the Australian’s legendary generous spirit! I have since witnessed it many many times through many many people.

Happy Australia Day you generous Ozzy people! Thank you for all that you have done and still doing here in Madagascar.

We will be celebrating your nation all the way from Madagascar today! 🇦🇺🦘🐨❤️💙🤍

At Thrive, the focus these past few weeks was and still is, to make beds and bunk beds. We need them for our children, volunteers and the people with disabilities we support!

We are praising God for provision and protection!
