UPDATE FROM THE PREMIER’S DEPARTMENT ON THE MOREE AFTER-HOURS GRANTS PROGRAM
SHAE Academy
Moree’s young talent brought home a national title!
Last year a team of young people travelled to Dubbo to represent their community at the National Indigenous Touch Football Knockout – and took out the Under 15s National Championship title.
In the lead-up to the tournament, the team trained twice a week, developed their fitness and took part in weekly cultural mentorship sessions led by local knowledge holders. It was a powerful combination of sport, teamwork and cultural connection that helped them take the title.
This opportunity was made possible through $9,861 in funding from the NSW Government’s After-Hours Activities Grants Program, supporting young people to stay active, engaged and proud of who they are.
The program is now closed, but activities are still being delivered over the coming months.

UPDATE FROM THE PREMIER’S DEPARTMENT ON THE MOREE AFTER-HOURS GRANTS PROGRAM
Warrama-li Dhiiyaan ran exciting cultural dance workshops led by Paul Spearim, along with energetic Blackfit Sessions with Josh Toole. Up to 20 young people from Mungindi took part, learning new skills while having fun and staying active.
They also delivered a special 3-day On-Country experience, where participants went fishing, tried traditional foods, and listened to stories from Uncle Ronald Prince. This immersive experience helped young people connect deeply with their culture and land.
All of this was made possible thanks to $11,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s After-Hours Activities Grants Program.
The program is now closed, but activities are still being delivered in the coming months.

Community meetings are currently being planned for late July. Further details will be provided shortly.

UPDATE FROM THE PREMIER’S DEPARTMENT ON THE MOREE AFTER-HOURS GRANTS PROGRAM
Sydney’s Yabun Festival had some special guests this year - ten proud young dancers from Moree 💃🏽
In the lead-up to the performance, the girls participated in an intensive week of rehearsals with guest teachers, diving into traditional dance, song and cultural knowledge while building teamwork and confidence.
Their performance at one of the largest one-day gatherings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in Australia was a proud and powerful moment for the whole community.
The experience was supported by $4,330 in funding from the NSW Government’s After Hours Activities Grants Program - helping young people stay connected, engaged and culturally strong.
Yulugi Marumali were successful in obtaining $3.1K for portable dance mirrors under Moree Plains Shire Council’s Small Business Fund.
The program is now closed, but activities are still being delivered in the coming months

GRANTS PROGRAM
Presdjious Event Hire & Management
Dancing feet and excited voices filled the room at silent disco and karaoke events across the Shire
Kids from Boggabilla, Pallamallawa, Mungindi and Ashley danced the day away, with over 30 young people coming together at some locations.
These free events gave young people a safe, fun space to connect, express themselves and simply have a great time.
Thanks to $8,063 in funding from the NSW Government’s After Hours Activities Grants Program, the community is buzzing with energy and connection.
The program is now closed, but activities are still being delivered in the coming months.
