Gretta Fuller has been awarded an OAM for Service to Conservation and the Environment!

Our very own founding member, Margretta 'Gretta' Fuller, was formally awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours List.

Gretta has inspired generations of locals to connect with indigenous flora through her volunteering, mentoring and advocacy for the environment. Her contribution began in the early 1960s as a member of the Friends of Warrien Reserve committee and continues today through her volunteer work at Candlebark Community Nursery.

The Candlebark committee and community is absolutely thrilled to see your lifetime of dedication to conservation and environmental volunteering recognised.

Gretta says: To receive this honour is a very humbling experience. I share this award with family, friends and the many wonderful people who have walked this bush path with me over many years.

Melbourne’s rail network contains some of the region’s most significant remnant native vegetation and provides important habitat for a range of threatened species and ecological communities. This webinar will explore the historical development and management of rail corridors to understand how they have become valuable biodiversity assets within an increasingly urbanised landscape.

The session will provide an overview of Metro’s Biosite Management Program, highlighting the approaches used to protect and manage significant biodiversity values across the network and showcasing key achievements from the program over the past nine years.

The webinar will also explore Metro’s efforts to improve landscape-scale biodiversity connectivity, including an industry-leading collaboration with The University of Melbourne to enhance and connect critically endangered Natural Temperate Grasslands along the Sunbury rail corridor.
