🇦🇺 Vietnam Veterans’ Day – Moora RSL 🇦🇺
Thank you to everyone who attended today’s Vietnam Veterans’ Day commemoration at the Moora War Memorial, and a special thank you to the students who took part and spoke during the service. You all did a wonderful job helping us honour and remember those who served.
This year marked 60 years since the Battle of Long Tan, making today’s service particularly significant for Moora as we remembered local soldier Corporal Peter Edward Clements, who was wounded at Long Tan on 18 August 1966 and sadly died from his wounds nine days later, aged just 21.
We were especially honoured to have Peter’s brother, Phil Martin, join us today. Thank you, Phil, for continuing to champion your brother’s legacy and ensuring Peter’s story and sacrifice are remembered by future generations.
A big thank you also to Mr Digger for bringing along his fantastic military memorabilia trailer for everyone to explore. Mr Digger will be returning to Moora in September to visit our local schools, giving even more of our young people the opportunity to see his collection and learn about Australia’s military history.
Thank you again to everyone who attended, participated and helped make today’s commemoration so special.
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.
