We are so excited to announce that Michele is one of our Dream kids!
Have you joined the 5,000 step challenge for Michele?
We'd love our followers to support C.H.A.I.L.I.S with this fantastic initiative and help ease the burden on Michele's family 💛🩷💚

Twelve year old Michele Dichiera is one of 20 known cases around the world suffering with Giant Cell Angioblastoma and believed to be the only person in Australia born with the condition.

Treatments have so far been ineffective and the family is facing medical bills of $7,500 a month for a trial medication. The other option is to amputate Michele's foot.

John has set an ambitious target of raising $15,000 in June & July in support of the Mildura youngster.

So join us for "5,000 steps for Michele" in June and July and help us help this local family.

It is as easy as doing 5000 and making a donation into the CHAILIS account.

You could do 5000 steps per day and donate $5 each day!
Or walk 5000 steps and make a larger donation for a single day.

OR you could join us on Saturday 20th of June at the Sunraysia Farmers and Makers Market and walk around a circuit raising funds for Michele's treatment

Continuing with our National Volunteer Week posts, tonight’s spotlight is on the wonderful Pam 💛✨

Pam is a huge part of the amazing fundraising efforts at Bushman’s Rest Caravan Park alongside Tamina and the team.

Here’s what Tamina had to say about this very special lady 💖

"The Tweedledum to my Tweedledee. Pam (aka Nanna, the Easter bunny & Pennywise) is the glue that holds our BRCP volunteer group together. She is the one that will walk countless steps around the park, selling tickets, shaking the donation tin and putting a face to the ideas and events that we run. Never one to shy away from a challenge she is one of the most passionate and committed people I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering with 💖

Here’s what Tamina had to say about why she chooses to volunteer for SuniKids Dream 💫

"Someone once told me if you’re having a bad day, do something nice for someone else and watch how your mood changes.

Turns out they were right.

My first thought was; how is that sustainable in a world where we constantly feel like we don’t have enough time?
I’ve since learnt (purely by looking at my daily screen time eeek) that we actually have more time than we think. The families and the kids that Sunikids Dream supports, they don’t always have the luxury of time. So why continue to waste the gift of time that I do have ❤️‍🩹

Sunikids has added meaning, perspective and a level of empathy I didn’t know I possessed, to my life. Because of Sunikids I get to be a part of creating something so special, so beautiful and so needed - joy.

Yes! Life is busy and hard and messy but there’s also so much beauty in that chaos and it’s such an easy thing to forget that it’s also full of magic.

The passion and love that Sam has and how she has built something so beautiful from a place of heartache, love & determination is something that inspires me every day, even outside of Sunikids.

Even the heaviest things are lighter if we carry it together and although not all problems have a solution… knowing the respite, love and care that goes into what Sam, Katherine and Sunikids as a whole, does reminds me that life is precious and there is magick in all of us 💖

"I volunteer with SuniKids Dream because I grew up in this community and, as a local, I love that all funds raised make a direct impact on our vulnerable local children. 💛 Important Update – SuniKids Dream Ball 2026 💛
Hi everyone,
We wanted to share an important update with our amazing SuniKids Dream community.
After a lot of thought and careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to postpone the 2026 SuniKids Dream Ball.
This absolutely wasn’t an easy call, but due to the current global economic climate — rising costs, financial pressures, and the flow-on effect it’s having across our local community, we feel it's the right decision
We want to ensure that when we do hold this special event, it’s one that everyone can truly enjoy and be part of.
✨ But here’s the important part…
Whilst we wait to set a new date, our focus will continue right where it belongs —
on our Dream kids.
We’ll be putting our energy into creating meaningful, unforgettable Dreams and making the most of the funds our incredible community has already so generously donated. This is what SuniKids Dream is all about and we’re so excited about the prospect of bringing some very special Dreams to life

If you know of a child living with a serious illness who may qualify for a Dream, please reach out to their family and pass on our details — we would love to hear from them.
