It was a fun, hands-on, and engaging session where everyone learned new skills, shared stories, and enjoyed connecting through culture and food.

Celebrating Teachers’ Day in Korea📚✨

In Korea, Teachers’ Day—스승의 날 (seuseung-ui nal / suh-seung-uh nal)—is celebrated on May 15th. It is a day dedicated to honouring teachers and mentors who guide, inspire, and shape students’ lives.
The word 스승 (seuseung) carries a deep sense of respect, referring not just to school teachers, but to anyone who shares wisdom and helps shape one’s path in life. On this day, students traditionally express gratitude with carnations, handwritten letters, and heartfelt messages to say thank you for their dedication and care.
It’s a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact teachers have—not just in classrooms, but in building confidence, values, and dreams 🌱

Celebrating Parents’ Day in Korea💐

In Korea, Parents’ Day—어버이날 (eobeoi-nal / uh-buh-ee-nal)—is celebrated on May 8th. The day was created to honour both mothers and fathers together, reflecting the deep cultural value of respect, gratitude, and care for one’s parents.
Traditionally, children give carnations, heartfelt letters, or small gifts to express appreciation for the love and sacrifices their parents have made. It’s a simple but meaningful reminder to pause and say “thank you” for everything they do, often in quiet, everyday ways.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate and cherish our parents—not just today, but always 💐❤️

Celebrating Children’s Day in Korea ✨

Did you know? Korea’s Children’s Day—어린이날 (eorini-nal / uh-ree-nee-nal)—began in the 1920s, inspired by a movement that emphasised something very important: children should be respected as independent individuals with their own thoughts, feelings, and rights, not just as extensions of adults. It marked a cultural shift toward truly valuing and listening to children.

Today, it is celebrated every year on May 5th with joy, family outings, gifts, and laughter. But beyond the fun, it still carries that original message—honouring every child’s individuality, dreams, and voice.

Let’s continue to create a world where children feel seen, heard, and valued 💛

What an incredible evening at the Twilight Market! 🌙✨

Our Korean Community stall officially made its first appearance at a public event—and what a debut it was! We were proud to introduce our community while also fundraising for John Corea.
Visitors had so much fun trying out traditional Korean games featured in Squid Game—공기놀이, 제기차기, and 딱지치기. The energy was amazing, and we loved seeing so many people getting involved and enjoying the experience with us!
Our eco bags with Korean lettering were also a hit, and many people were fascinated by having their names written in Korean. The curiosity, enthusiasm, and engagement from everyone truly made the night special.
We were even featured in a radio interview(106.7 Hot FM), sharing more about our stall and our community—such an exciting moment for us! 🎤
A huge thank you to everyone who came by and supported us, and a special shoutout to Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council Inc. - SMECC for encouraging us to be part of such a wonderful event.
We’re just getting started! We can’t wait to bring even more fun and culture to the SMECC Multicultural Festival this May—stay tuned for updates! 🇰🇷💙

2026년 3월 1일 | 밀두라 한인회 첫 총회

2026년 삼일절을 맞아, 밀두라 한인회의 첫 총회가 성공적으로 개최되었습니다. 이날 총회에서는,
- 정관 채택
- 임원 선출
- 향후 활동 계획 논의
등이 이루어졌습니다.

총회 시작 전에는 Acknowledge of Country를 진행하여, 이 땅의 원주민과 지역 공동체를 존중하는 마음을 나누었습니다.

이번 총회는 호주 최초 한인 이민자인 존 코리아 관련 역사적 의미가 더해져 더욱 뜻깊었습니다.
SMECC의 Akesa Kei(CEO)와 Maree Buckingham(Corporate Services Manager)께서 참석해 축사를 전하고, 기념패를 전달해 주셔서 감동적인 시간이었습니다. 총회가 이루어진 장소인 SMECC Hall 또한 축하의 의미로 무료로 제공받아 다시 한번 감사한 마음을 보냅니다.

총회장 한켠에서 함께 하던 우리의 다음 세대들이 뿌리를 잊지 않고 한인의 정체성인 문화와 전통을 이어가길 바라봅니다.

앞으로 밀두라 한인회가 지역사회와 함께 성장하며, 다양한 활동을 이어갈 것을 기대합니다.
