Integra Service Dogs Australia LifeUnleashed by Integra Service Dogs Australia is a registered charity.

Our Mission is to transform the lives of Veterans and First Responders living with PTSD, caused by trauma during service, through the healing power of Service Dogs. LifeUnleashed by Integra Service Dogs Australia was founded in 2016 to deliver the vision established by Ken Lloyd and Ben Johnson, which is to provide excellent service dogs to veterans and First Responders with PTSD who have served

our country. Ken has performed exceptional service to our nation, at the highest level, for many decades in multiple theatres of operation; he holds an OAM in recognition of his life-long service in the ADF. He aspires to provide a high quality, low cost service dog to veterans suffering from PTSD to help them manage their symptoms and hyper-vigilence. LifeUnleashed provides Labrador dogs to eligible veterans and First Responders suffering from PTSD. It can only continue this important work with your funding and support as LifeUnleashed is a not-for profit organisation. These highly skilled Labrador dogs can help veterans and First Responders to reduce periods of hospitalisation, reduce medication levels, help individuals rebuild trust and relationships, and reconnect with family, friends and the community. Our vision is that the terrific dogs provided by LifeUnleashed will assist those who have given so much to the service of their country to re-connect with their families, save lives by preventing suicide (in combination with other recognised therapies) and provide a longer term pathway for training, skill development and employment. LifeUnleashed has developed an evaluation framework for our program to ensure that there is a credible and independent evidence base of the medium and longer term outcomes of the program for participants. LifeUnleashed has placed over 157 Service dogs with veterans in 4 states/territories.

100% of all donations to LifeUnleashed by Integra Service Dogs Australia from the public go directly to supporting veterans and our dogs.

Yesterday, 8 August, marked the Commemoration of Women in the Armed Forces. On this day we honour the service and sacrifice of the women who have served in Australia's armed forces, from former servicewomen of the World Wars through to those in uniform today. ⁣⁣

At LifeUnleashed by Integra Service Dogs Australia, we are privileged to support veterans from all walks of life, including women whose service has come with unique experiences and challenges.

We recognise their courage, dedication and resilience, and the strength they have shown both during and beyond their military careers.

We thank all women who have served and continue to serve. Your commitment and sacrifice inspire us all.

🐾 International Assistance Dog Week 🐾

This week, we proudly celebrate International Assistance Dog Week and recognise the extraordinary Assistance Dogs that change lives every day.

Behind every accredited Assistance Dog is a remarkable community. From the careful breeding and early development of each puppy to specialised training, fostering, matching and ongoing support, it takes up to two years of dedication to prepare a dog for their life-changing role.

At LifeUnleashed by Integra Service Dogs Australia, this journey is made possible thanks to our dedicated trainers and instructors, our valued partners Vision Australia and Guide Dogs Victoria, and the many foster carers, volunteers and supporters who give their time, expertise and care.

Together, they help prepare each Assistance Dog to support a Veteran or First Responder living with PTSD.

Time and again, our handlers tell us that their Service Dog has helped them reconnect with family, return to their community, regain independence and navigate everyday life with greater confidence. For many, these dogs provide life-saving support and hope for the future.

This International Assistance Dog Week, we celebrate not only the incredible dogs, but every person who helps make their journey possible. Thank you for helping transform lives through the power of the human-canine bond.

Meet Maayan, one of our incredible volunteer foster carers from Aspen Medical, pictured here with Assistance Dog in Training, Alyssa.

Thanks to Aspen Medical's ongoing support, our foster carers can bring their dogs in training to work, giving them the opportunity to develop invaluable skills in a real office environment.

For Alyssa, this means practising one of the most important parts of her future role as an Assistance Dog: remaining calm, settled and focused throughout the workday, despite the everyday distractions of a busy workplace.

These experiences help build the confidence and reliability our dogs need before they're matched with a veteran or first responder living with PTSD.

A huge thank you to Maayan and Aspen Medical Australia for helping create more opportunities for our dogs to learn, grow and thrive. Every experience brings them one step closer to changing a life.

✈️ Off to his next adventure! ✈️

This month, Smokey graduated from advanced training and was all smiles as he posed for a photo with the pilots before boarding his flight to Queensland.

Smokey is a true "old soul" with a gentle nature, calmly going about life by your side and settling happily wherever the day takes him. While he enjoys relaxing just as much as he enjoys working, his favourite downtime activities are a good game of tug or chasing a ball.

Throughout his training, Smokey excelled at learning his contact tasks and mastered his heel and side positioning cues with confidence and consistency.

We're incredibly proud of everything Smokey has achieved and wish him every success as he begins this exciting new chapter. Here's to a future filled with companionship, confidence and life-changing moments together.

This week's training session took Pip, Alyssa and Daisy to Petbarn, where they practised staying calm, focused and engaged in one of the most distracting environments a dog can experience.

With so many exciting scents, tasty treats, toys, people and other dogs around, pet stores are the perfect place for our future Assistance Dogs to learn how to remain neutral and focused on their handler.

🐾 Pip practised walking through the central aisle while staying engaged with her trainer and ignoring the many tempting scents.

🐾 Alyssa worked on a calm, relaxed down wait while her trainer browsed the store, building patience and confidence in a busy environment.

🐾 Daisy took on the dog food aisle, doing a fantastic job remaining engaged with her trainer and staying neutral despite all the exciting distractions.

Every outing like this helps our dogs build the skills they'll one day rely on to support their future handlers with confidence.

The countdown is on!

This handsome boy is Freddie, the incredible Assistance Dog partnered with our handler, Vince.

In just over a week, Vince will take on the sold out City2Surf, running from Sydney's CBD to Bondi Beach with determination, resilience and plenty of support behind him.

Freddie's unwavering companionship has helped Vince regain confidence and independence. Together, they represent the life changing impact of Assistance Dogs and the difference your support can make.

As Vince prepares to cross the start line on Sunday 9 August, we'd love your support in helping him reach his fundraising goal for LifeUnleashed by Integra Service Dogs Australia.

Every donation helps us create more life changing partnerships for veterans and first responders living with PTSD.

If you're able to, please consider supporting Vince's City2Surf journey here:https://city2surf26.grassrootz.com/life-unleashed/vince-and-freddie?utm_medium=email&utm_source=gr-notification&utm_campaign=NewDonation

⭐ Another incredible graduate! ⭐

Please join us in congratulating Jingle, who successfully graduated from advanced training in June.

From the very beginning, Jingle approached every new challenge with enthusiasm, developing the skills and confidence needed for the important role ahead.

Jingle was a star on her flight from Canberra to the Gold Coast, staying calm, relaxed and taking everything in her stride like a seasoned traveller.

Highly affectionate and full of sass, Jingle brought plenty of personality to every day of training. She especially enjoyed learning her retrieval skills, with "lead" quickly becoming one of her favourite tasks.

When it was time to play, Jingle could often be found proudly parading around with her favourite toy, a large orange squeaky stick, soaking up plenty of pats and attention from everyone during group play.

Well done, Jingle. Your dedication and wonderful personality will make a lasting impact, and we can't wait to watch your next chapter unfold.
